Is Froch in denial about his fights against Dirrell and Kessler?

Image: Is Froch in denial about his fights against Dirrell and Kessler?By Scott Gilfoid: To listen to WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch talk in the recent press conferences with WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward you would think that Froch totally dominated both Andre Dirrell and Mikkel Kessler in his past fights with them. Froch still thinks he got a bad decision in his 12 round decision loss to Mikkel Kessler last year.

And much worse than that, Froch actually thinks he dominated Dirrell in 2009. Can you imagine that? I never saw a more one-sided fight before than that one. Froch couldn’t even lay a finger on the talented Dirrell, and it was embarrassing how Dirrell was making Froch miss all night. Froch won that fight by a highly questionable 12 round split decision in a home fight for Froch.

In a lot of cases, picking a winner in that fight came down whether you were from the UK or elsewhere around the world. If you were from the UK you pretty much saw Froch winning. If you from elsewhere like myself, you tended to side with Dirrell by a lopsided decision. And yet Froch has been using that fight as an example of how well he’ll do against Ward on October 29th, saying that he dominated a faster Dirrell.

Froch also thinks he should have won the Kessler fight. I saw that fight at least 10 times and I think Froch lost by four rounds. Kessler didn’t look great either but he fought a lot better than Froch that’s for sure. There was no question that Kessler was the better man in that fight.

Ward thinks Froch is denial about his fights. Ward saw those fights of Froch and just like me, he thought that Froch lost both fights. But what’s sad is that Froch won’t acknowledge that he got spanked in those fights. Why can’t Froch just say ‘Hey, I got whipped by two better fighters than me. “

Can you imagine the respect he would get if he just flat out imitated that Dirrell was the better man, and so was Kessler? I would really respect him.
