Donaire: Pacquiao will stop Marquez in five to eight rounds
By Chris Williams: WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire is picking fellow countryman WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 KO’s) to stop challenger Juan Manuel Marquez (53-5-1, 39 KO’s) between five to eight rounds when they fight for the third time on November 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Here’s what Donaire had to say on the Pacquiao-Marquez fight at philstar.com: “Marquez is slower now. He’s even chunkier, but he won’t fight Manny like [Shane] Mosley. Marquez will go out there trying to take out Manny. That’s why it will be a lot more exciting than Manny’s fight against Mosley. Manny won’t have a problem finding Marquez. It’ll be over in five to eight rounds.”
The fight will be taking place at a catchweight of 144 pounds. This could favor Pacquiao because he’s been fighting at welterweight recently while Marquez has been campaigning as a lightweight. However, I’m not so certain that it will help Pacquiao.
By forcing himself to fight at a higher weight than he did earlier in his career the stress of having to maintain a heavier weight and fight bigger fighters with more power seems to slowing Pacquiao down in a big way. Pacquiao can no longer move around with the great speed that he did earlier in his career and seems to have dramatically slowed since his win over Miguel Cotto in 2009.
The speed advantage that Pacquiao will have over Marquez will be negligible. I don’t see speed or size as being a factor in this fight. I also disagree with Donaire in his belief that Marquez will be trying to knock Pacquiao out. Although Marquez has been saying recently that he’s going to have to try to knock Pacquiao out to ensure that he get the win, I don’t think he’ll seriously try to do that.
I see Marquez looking to outbox Pacquiao the same way he did in their previous two fights and having a much easier time doing that because of how much Pacquiao has slowed down. I think Marquez is going to make Pacquiao look silly by counter punching him all night long and exposing Pacquiao’s limited boxing skills. Marquez has got Pacquiao’s number, and will continue his domination of him in this fight.

How can u use arturro gati as an example? Gati was far past his prime when floyd fought him. It was just sad. Floyd beat gati’s name but he didnt beat the gati that the boxing world loved. And boxing was dying alot faster before the pacquiao limelight. Floyd didnt get his big ppv draws untill after de la hoya. Now half of the draw are fans that want to c him get knocked out, not for how exciting he is. Mosley stood in front of him all night with no reflex and floyd didnt have the heart to take it to him. Pacquiao would have definitely stopped mosley if he didnt run so hard. Not to mention the dirty moves floyd used on mosley like holding his head down and punching him, hitting on the break and elbows to the face. Floyd is a great boxer but he should have been able to do more to marquez also being 15 lbs bigger. Floyd is good for himself not boxing
Quote: Pac You: “Because of Pacman, Boxing started again to gain popularity.During the scared and coward Floyd Jr time,Boxing started to go down bcoz it’s just to boring to watch.Am i right Floydiots?Bwahahahahaha!”
I disagree – Floyd has always been a crowd-drawing athlete. The only reason he looks boring is because he makes the job so natural and skilful that everyone else looks rubbish. Arturo Gatti – one of my all-time favourite fighters due to his exciting fighting style, looked very boring in most people’s eyes when he fought Floyd because he couldn’t do anything – he lost his composure and all. I prefer Manny’s fights over Floyd’s myself but I completely disagree with your comment that Manny has woken-up boxing – maybe for the casual fans but not at all for many boxing veterans as he keeps fighting opponents with no threat to him.
Chris Williams i really dont know what is your Problem with Manny Pacquiao but you better shut up!!!!
Because of Pacman, Boxing started again to gain popularity.During the scared and coward Floyd Jr time,Boxing started to go down bcoz it’s just to boring to watch.Am i right Floydiots?Bwahahahahaha!
Pac is a beneficiary of what’s wrong in today’s boxing.
# 1 pound for pound …..
8 division champion …..
exposing limited boxing skills….
limited boxing skills….. limited boxing skills….
you’re so funny…. bunny….
donaire loves to talk instead of doing his own fight.
this writer is a phony.
Would you like to wager on your boy Marquez, Chris? I have $250 that says Pacquiao will make you eat your words? Is it a bet?
Pac won the previous fights with one hand. Can you imagine what will happen now with Pac power on both hands. The execution will be carried out without mercy and quick!
Floyd wants Pac next but Pac can’t train in Bagiuo and Floyd has to get a guaranteed $100 million and Pac has to apply for U.S. citizenship and Pac can’t hang out with Filipinos before the fight and Pac can’t have a concert and Pac has to take the SAT…
Pacquiao want’s Wladimar Klitschko next but it has to be a catchweight of 150 & Wlad can’t use his Jab.
Obviously, I am a Manny Fan. But I am looking at a good exciting fight. Their past two fights have been great and I can almost sense of the same here.
One thing is certain though, the Manny that Marquez fought years ago, is not the same person, or the same fighter. Manny is more evolved now.
This is what makes it so interesting to see.
Let’s try and put this in stone: ” Marquez has got Pacquiao’s number, and will continue his domination of him in this fight.” according to Chris Williams. I’ve bookmarked this page and will get back here once the fight is over. Let’s wait and see.
a bad publicity is still a good one. how much did pacquiao paid you chris?
@Cris G…You are very, very smart and i wish that you will help Floyd with his Court deposition since you are so sure that Manny is on drugs. And now Donaire too!!! Hahaha!!! Desperation of this Floydiot. Floydiots never ceases to amaze me.
Marquez is not a chump for all of you who r writing him off like he is a no name. Youll be surprised when Marquez makes Pacman look bad for most of the fight MARK MY WORDS
cris g is saying “birds of the same feather flock together”. Surely true for the Mayweathers.
For me,Pacman will stop from 2 to 7 rounds….that’s it!
Good PR from Donaire and a great way of getting more Pinoy’s on his side. Can’t blaim him for trying.
nice corneman…i want to see the face of chris williams when pacman knocks JM out…
Pac is facing Marquez, one who came from a string of very good wins which critics have been clamoring for quite sometime. It will be a good farewell fight for Marquez but Pacman will win and when he does, critics will say JMM was a Floyd leftover.
As usual Pacquiao will lose……that’s according to Chris Williams!
The only reason Pacman is fighting Marquez is because he wants a third fight so bad. I think Pac has moved on from his last to two fights with Marquez, Marquez can’t seem to move on.
Dumbo Donaire tell us something we don’t know. we already know pacquiao won’t fight anyone who shows a threat to him. he’s still making baby steps.
Pac wasn’t even close to stopping him twice before. Who knows, maybe the third times a charm. lol
they fought twice already….who cares!!!
