Image: Deontay Wilder vs. Dominque Alexander on August 27thBy Scott Gilfoid: Deontay Wilder (17-0, 17 KO’s), arguably the best raw talent in the heavyweight division right now by far, will be back in the ring later on this month on August 27th against the tough as nails Dominque Alexander (20-11-1, 9 KO’s) in a scheduled six round bout at the Water Oaks Farm Arena in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Wilder has what many boxing fans feel is the best right hand in the division. He’s got one punch knockout power with his right. However, he still needs to develop his left hand and his jab a lot more.

This fight should give the towering 6’7″ Wilder a good fight for while it lasts. Alexander, who started his career as a cruiserweight, has been in with the likes of Cedric Boswell, Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, Kali Meehan and Odlanier Solis. This will be a good fight for Wilder to see where he’s at.

Wilder has recently gained a lot of valuable experience working as a sparring partner for former World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye while he was getting ready for Wladimir Klitschko, as well as a sparring partner for Tomasz Adamek to help him get ready for his September 10th fight against Vitali Klitschko.

Right now I think Wilder is more than good enough to beat most of the heavyweights in the division other than the Klitschkos. I can see Wilder beating top contenders like Adamek, Chris Arreola, Tyson Fury and David Price with his tremendous right hand power and his ability to move around the ring. Wilder is fast on his feet for a big man, and reminds me a lot of how well Wladimir Klitschko moves.
