Paul McCloskey to announce his September 10th opponent tomorrow

Paul McCloskey will fight at the Odyssey Arena live on Sky Sports on September 10 in a World Boxing Association (WBA) eliminator, with promoter Eddie Hearn is promising to announce an exciting opponent at tomorrow’s press conference (July 19).

The Dungiven fighter is aiming to get back on the trail of a World title shot after his fight with Amir Khan in April ended in controversial circumstances, as chaos ensued in the ring after a cut above McCloskey’s left eye was deemed severe enough to stop the fight.

Back on home turf and with a world class opponent in the opposite corner, Hearn believes McCloskey will put the Khan fight behind him and prove he is ready to challenge for a major belt once more.

“Paul is keen to put the Khan fight in the past and move on,” said Hearn. “We cannot change what happened on the night but Paul is in control of his future, and a victory on September 10 in front of a packed crowd in Belfast against this perfect opponent will put him back on top of the pile for a World title shot.”

Ticket details for the September 10 fight at the Odyssey Arena will also be released tomorrow, while a top class undercard to be announced soon.
