Klitschko-Adamek: If Tomasz fights in an exciting manner, he’s going to get destroyed

By Dan Ambrose: Heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) says he won’t be involved in a non-exciting David Haye style fight against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) on September 10th at the Stadion Miejski, in Wroclaw, Poland. The last thing that the 6’1 1/2″ Adamek wants to do is fight a safety first fight in front of his Polish fans in Wroclaw.

However, unless Adamek does fight a non-engaging safety first fight against Vitali, he’s going to get knocked out quickly. That’s the real bind for Adamek. He can either run around the ring all night long and possibly survive to the final bell a humiliating 12 round decision loss or he can go all out and go down swinging in one or two rounds.

There’s two choices for Adamek and both of them are bad. I suppose going out on your shield is much more preferable than running around the ring like Haye did in his loss to Wladimir Klitschko recently. But Adamek wants to win but doesn’t have the size, the chin or the power to beat Vitali. Adamek is hunting for bear without any bullets. He’s got nothing to compete against Vitali with, and that puts Adamek in kind of a no win situation.

I know what I would do if I were him, but I’m not sure that Adamek is willing to fight an all out fight. I would go right after Vitali and try to knock him out in the first couple of rounds. I obviously wouldn’t succeed but boxing fans would at least respect me for having tried. The same goes for Adamek. If he goes after Vitali in the first couple of rounds, he couple possibly surprise the big Ukrainian enough to make him have to work a little harder than he normally does to get a stoppage.

Adamek will still lose but at least he won’t be humiliated. But I don’t think Adamek will go after Vitali, because that would be going against Adamek’s nature. He’s been a 100% runner since he moved up to heavyweight and has run all of his fights, even against the mostly stiffs that he’s fought against. I think the Adamek can’t fight all out because his safety first style of fighting is too well ingrained.

Adamek is basically a slower version of Haye as far as I’m concerned. He runs the same way and pecks the same way, only a lot less interesting to watch because Adamek doesn’t score knockouts since he moved up in weight to the heavyweight division.

I am pretty sure Adamek will try to upset Vitaly from the first rounds. His only chance is to push Vitaly out from his comfort zone early. I guess he will be quickly coming from distance out of Vitaly’s reach to inside to try some combos and absorb as less as possible and then jumping out. And this again and again and again for as many rounds as it is possible. This is only way to get the belt if he is serious about it. However if hit by Vitaly then the whole tactic and strategy plan can end up ruined as we’ve already seen with the other fighters. But from the other hand the toughness is something that makes fighters like Adamek and Vitaly as well so different then the rest. So we will see, I wouldn’t be so sure that he has no chance.

The Pole is going to be in a world of hurt. He should stay in N.J. and fight Golata again if he wants to avoid woe and misery. Then again the money is good when you are allowed to be opposite a Klitschko.

Adamek is a decent fighter and he will come to survive I hope for his sake ..If he is foolish to try to get physical with K he will be hurt badly…..he should survive take the money and run
