Khan-Judah: It Wasn’t Even Close

By Anthony Starkson: Fellow boxing fans, writers, and enthusiasts, we have just witnessed greatness on the night of July 23rd. This was the fight that many predicted would be Khan’s downfall, with one (unnamed) writer claiming that Judah would “brutally” knock Khan out in the 8th round. What he was on, we can only guess.

From the outset, Judah knew he didn’t have a chance. He was way too defensive, and after two rounds, I knew Pernell Whitaker didn’t have anymore belief in Judah. I felt sorry for Pernell, because he was doing everything he could to get Judah to throw…anything. Throughout the whole fight, I only counted a couple meaningful shots Judah landed. Khan however, was a couple millenniums ahead of the unwilling Judah.

Amir started the fight fast and actually brought the fight to Judah. Many of us were expecting Judah would throw anything and everything at Khan, including the kitchen sink, during the fight’s first half. Khan did many things that amazed me, including landing his crisp jab against the southpaw, time and time again. He totally outclassed the brash New Yorker, and I don’t blame Judah for quitting.

Now, many pro-Judah or anti-Khan would say that the exquisite body shot Khan put Judah down with was a low blow, but, alas, it wasn’t. Sorry but you’ll have to find another, meaningless, excuse. During the post-fight interviews, Zab told HBO’s Max Kellerman, “Yeah, he (Khan) hit me right on the balls.” Sure, if Zab’s balls are attached to his abdominal wall, then, surely, Khan should have been disqualified. Honestly, to me, the body shot did not look that hard, not hard enough to knock someone out, that is. But Zab did not have the stamina, punches, or for that matter, balls, to continue fighting.

For Zab’s sake, I hope he calls it quits. For Khan, greatness is at the doorstep, ringing the bell, chanting with her voice “You’re next.”

    ha ha love this article!!

  • fist vs mought! says:

@Sean! the way you defend Mayweathers obviously you are one of the clan using your big mought!

  • StrongMan says:

Judah was ripped with muscles whereas Khan was ripped with skills.

  • StrongMan says:

Did you see the six belts that team Judah brought in with him? It was very impressive and scary wasn’t it? That tells that Judah is a very good fighter in order to get all of those six belts (now five belts), but he still got beaten by Khan badly and then gave up. Thus, the fight tells us that Khan is way better than Judah, folks.

  • Sean says:

@doog; that would mean boxing is lacking skillful boxer.

  • Anonymous says:

    @Sean

Yeah musclehead! YOU’RE THE ONE ON STEROIDS!!!

    Keep on dreamin’ fatboy!

  • One bat says:

Were is Scott gilford please Scott come on and make a comment

  • Sean says:

@ ANONYMOUS;I am two hundred pounds of muscle, there isn’t any fat on me! Freddie S.T.I.N.K.S,Khan is aN taxi driver.B.U.M.

  • Anonymous says:

    @Sean

Freddie roach was voted “Trainer of the Year,” 5 times already, by the BWAA! Roger Mayweather was NEVER trainer of the year, maintaining his “0″!

    Keep on hatin’! Fatboy!

  • Sean says:

Khan didn’t land anything flush except for that low blow.Roach isn’t a good trainer! His fighters have no skill, they don’t move their head and Zab avoided every punch,Amir threw except for the head butt and N.U.T. SHOT.

  • Sean says:

@fern; Amir looked average at best-so there is no reason to accuse him of cheating.Khan can’t fight!

  • fern says:

Now that amir Khan is winning the floydiots will accused him on steroids.

  • Sean says:

@king; Zab is a girl! But it still doesn’t change the fact Khan can’t fight!

  • Queen Khan says:

The writer of this blog must have swallowed a huge load of Khans jizz. You know it.

  • Cut man says:

    @ haroon

I would love to see you take khans shot to your gut so you can really see what a big puss cake you are.

  • ZKO says:

Judah did well in packing himself over the 5 previous fights to put him into position to make money in this fight. I think this is the biggest fight left in Judah. Based on this fight, I would not even consider him to be a gatekeeper. If he continues boxing, it will probably look similar to Roy Jones Jr.’s end of career.

Regarding Khan, he got by Maidana and Judah… definitely looks like an Oscar DeLaHoya type rise.

Mayweather needs to deal with these two locomotives in Pac and Khan… otherwise they will run over his legacy.

  • Michael129 says:

Here is the thing… It’s really hard to gauge Khan’s talent, I don’t think that it’s about people not recognizing that Khan has good ring movement, and fast.. It’s more about the fighter he fights. I personally, do no like Khan, and would like to see Khan vs Maidana 2… and honestly I’m more interested in seeing what Guerrero is gonna do at 140, as well as looking forward to seeing Brandon Rios move up…. I don’t think that Khan would do good against a pressure fighter like Guerrero.

  • juanito 27 says:

Well the punch wasn’t low, Khan was wining easily with his jab and cutting the ring. Keeping his left foot outside of Judah right foot, that’s how you beat a southpaw fighter. From the begining Judah didn’t have any smart respond for Khan’s game plan, he looked big and fast and strong then Judah. So should we ask, that fight was a miss match? Well the answer…..! Khan whon by knock out.

  • FromBuenosAires says:

Judah did well. He earned $ 500.000 without working.

  • D Nice says:

Zab has not looked good in any of his last 3 fights. I would not measure him against mayweather. Khan should out point Bradley. But khan will have problems with taller fighters at welterweight.

  • kev says:

    @big al

harly…. he only landed 21 percent but either way he dominated…. but his accuracy will really have to improve if he wants mayweather

  • big al says:

amir dominated judah and really beat him up.every shot he threw he landed, judah is a typical sore loser coming out with excuses for his loss when he got a lickin.even when judah was shown the replay after the fight he said it was self explanitory even though you could clearly see it was not low(unless his balls are in his stomach.

  • BoxingDawg says:

Listen to what Judah was about to say where he got hit … but after seeing the reply, Judah changed his statement.

The shot was right on the belt and the shockwave got him in the balls.

  • BoxingDawg says:

I watched fight in slow motion and Khan did hit Judah just on the belt. Go to youtube and “ZAB JUDAH POST FIGHT INTERVIEW” has great angles of the shot … at the 47 sec and 57sec of the video.

    Khan vs Bradley is next.

  • Don Memon says:

If that was a blow to Zab balls he would have been in hospital not in post fight conference LOL

  • FollowKhan says:

Where are those haters who used to create all sorts of silly stories about Khan?

Low blow – but nowhere near the balls – it’s another brutal body short that sent Zab crumbling to the floor. He could get up if he is the sort of Maidana.

  • Jake says:

    Khan dominated the fight.
The head-butt in the first was minimal.
The blow that ended the fight was clearly on the belt line, not where Zab tried to claim.
Zab was looking for an excuse to exit the azz-whipping.
    Khan won the fight.
    Any questions?

  • Pakman says:

Waiting for the article: “khan wins with a low blow- looks horrible”

  • Sam says:

Still a lot of excuses! Zab got beat! He is professional boxer with a licese. No more excuses,PLEASE! He lost because he choose to fight a better mam.No shame on that.

  • Wicky says:

    Zab who?

  • crystalclear says:

hey BHop so this is what ur slick black afro-american boxers are made of LOL … callin on floydie and bradley .. ur next

  • boxinbox says:

We haven’t seen anything from Sean “McDenial” and William “Wacky” after the fight.. coz they are busy watching the fight again and again, to dig up some Wacky excuses to explain khan’s victory. yeah yeah.. i know they have checked Judah’s balls are above his waste line so it was a low blow. Also Mackay keeps talking about Khan getting hit by Maidana, yes he did, but only one fighter in that fight kissed the floor… we all know his name was not Khan.

  • Will says:

ok for starters Khan looked super impressive in this fight…period….however…anyyone with 2 eyes can see in the numerous replays that it was obviously below the belt…period…even all the commentators agreed it was….however it wasnt enough to have hurt a fighter to the degree that Zab acted it did…..Khan won the match no matter how you look at it….I just wish for the sake of boxing that it hadnt ended with any controversy as Khan was well on his way to a very impressive and legitimate KO win….Im not a Khan fan but he showed a lot of skill and some power too in this fight

  • PAC STOP FIGHTING WHACK FIGHTERS says:

when khan landed the shot judah went down holding his stomach then a few seconds later started holding his balls, king khan is number 1 iat 140

  • ipppppppppp says:

Where are the Gilford and Makay

  • racking says:

Kahn was gonna knock judah out sooner or later. Judah was looking for a way out of the fight and like a typical wimpy yank. The biatch starts claiming foul play.

He stated that he thought the ref was giving him a standing 8 count.

But what the pe nis should realised that there is no standing 8 count in a unification fight, he’s been in enough of them

  • kav says:

way to go amir flying the flag proud. judah wasn’t even at the races shame really after all his trash bollox talking he withered up and took the easy way out no heart. great punch from amir wasn’t below the belt shut up anyone who thinks otherwise.

  • ALERT says:

R.I.P WILLIAM MCCKAY and SCOTT GILFOID.because they both have sucided after Khans win

  • rri says:

@Hand Punch**** how are two of your top three comin off loses. and maidana almost lost to a washed up erik morales.

  • Hand Punch says:

    140 lbs top 3:

    Amir Khan, Maidana, Matthysse.

  • Hand Punch says:

At the end of the fight, Kellerman urged Bradley to take on Khan as it seems to be America’s last munition at 140.

If Bradley didn’t want any part of Khan before the fight, i strongly doubt he’ll be willing to man up after what he did to Judah last night.

  • joenavy says:

If you weren’t happy with this fight Bradley will be even worse. The bobble headed punching machine makes for horrible fights. His headbutting is his signature punch. I don’t know why everyone is asking for this fight. Khan should move up in weight there is no one interesting left to fight at 140.

  • jaws says:

what was funny is right after judah gets a nice punch he gets headbutted in the face. after that it seems judah was scared to throw another hard punch. nice low blow, even if it wasn’t that low, you have to remember that judah’s legs were bent. if they weren’t bent the punch would have landed right on his privates and it looks like it was thrown with bad intentions

  • Bisla says:

Tha dude won wit a low blow for all tha dumb a**es out there who say it was on the belt….. did u not hear tha ref at tha start say “anything below here is low”…. “HERE” meaning tha frecken top ov tha shorts….if it was a legal blow on tha belt belt why dant tha ref say to judah tht ur trunks are high so it alright for f*gggg khan to hit u there……but….i do agree wit the ppl who say he dominated tha first 5rds cause tht he did do…..ref got it wrong and theres gonna be soooooo many ppl who still aint gonna give khan any respect cause he win another gift decision like alexander keep tha network happy refs and judges keep the networks happy!!!

  • doog says:

Mayweather the last black hope, soon to be extinguished. To much crack and rap music has ruined them, where have these great slick black fighters gone to??

  • rjhill says:

For me,I could have accurately predicted this outcome.another shortcomeing for not so spectacular Zab.

  • joenavy says:

As I looked back and saw the fight again on my replay, there was not one real meaningful punch landed by either fighter unless you want to count the hold your head down with my forearm bolo punch to the belt line. I thought Khan clearly was winning the fight on aggression but really didn’t prove much. The fight sounded good on paper but now I realise I should have just kept watching the new episode of real sex on HBO.

  • ‘firm but fair’ says:

rubbish fight. All khan proved is tha hes a dirty fighter. headbutting and it off with a low blow

  • ‘firm but fair’ says:

    it was low blow motherf@ckers

  • boxing fan says:

i overestimated judah!and khan is well prepared and obviously as i said before, roach fully studied zab’s game!good job!

  • Daniel says:

very well written article, especially for a boxing website

  • FromBuenosAires says:

Khan and Maidana are clearly the best fighters of the division. Khan defeated Maidana by a hair. In August 27th, in the Guerrero – Maidana fight, we will see if Maidana has made the necessary improvements with Rudy Pérez, because he got to the Morales fight without enough time of training. Anyway I think we won’t see a Khan – Maidana rematch in the immediate future.

  • don@london says:

I think it’s about time some of the people on here gave Khan the credit he deserves. Fair enough, Judah is definitely not the fighter he once was but Khan is only 24 and is talking of getting in with the p4p greats is the next couple of years. Give him a break fellas.

  • INSTEAD says:

THE NEXT MOST LUCRATIVE DEAL WILL BE JUDAH VS MAY……. TAPPING EACH OTHER,HOLDING,GRABBING,SMILLING OCCASIONALLY FOR 12 ROUNDS WHICH ENDS AS A DRAW.” THE SUPER DRAW OF ALL TIME”(POUND ME 4 POUND ME)GOOD LUCK TO THE END OF ERA….

  • DEBO BROWN says:

I stand corrected about khan he did his thing and he looked good fighting zap which in my opinion was never in the fight …even though the punch is questionable You knew sooner or later zab was goig down….I Think he would beat Bradley aswell …I was really impressed with khan he’s getting better.he looked bigger than Judah if Bradley doesn’t fight him he should mOve up in weight…wwwweeeeppppaaaa!!!!!

  • GAR 30 says:

I haven’t seen the fight yet so I can’t comment on the “low blow” but there always seems to be an excuse when Khan wins just accept it he won, everyone just keeps on praying he gets knocked out again and he won’t fight this guy or that guy,

When is the Bradley ducks Khan again article going to appear on here?

  • swan-sea says:

that gilford idiot…hes like the audley harrison of this site…always got an excuse hes got no shame. freak boy

  • Max says:

Sean – B.U.M. can’t call it as others see it … where are the Khan bashers now? Your Judah is outah ….

waht do you really know? N.A.D.A ….

  • In debt says:

This is the second consecutive time I’ve bet heavily on Khan to lose and the second time that I’ve ended up being the loser. I’ve yet to see the fight though. Maybe my opinion gets slightly swayed by the number of anti-Khan articles on here. I’m not really a fan of Khan and think he was fortunate against Maidana, and sooner rather than later he will get exposed when he fights that type of fighter…..but saying that he’s now unified champ so fair play….I was wrong and well done to Khan.

  • Prince William says:

    Scott HIV Gilford!!!

  • King of the Cowards! says:

Scott Gilford? uhmmm…he’s a blogger, not a writer. the difference is simple, writer writes with sense.

  • King of the Cowards! says:

    @ Sean

hey sissy! if khan is horrible, so what is judah? hahaha… you’re just another typical floydiot! excuses, excuses, excuses….lol!

  • shaun says:

scott gilford you really are the worst boxing writer i have ever come across on both sides of the pond. kahn did exactley as he said he would. win every round. Chin up though you bum!!!!

  • Sean says:

Does Freddie Roach know how to train an fighter? Khan looked horrible! He can’t fight, just like his stablemate and the punch was low.Amir was pushing his head down with his elbow and he threw an low blow.I will admit Judah was looking for a way out,but the punch was low.I saw Khan slapping away with his punch and wasn’t landing anything cleanly.HE’S A B.U.M.

what are the excuses of AAfans weight drain Khan is on peds, slick AAfighting works no more its done in boxing!

  • ILL says:

Judah was not only too slow to react/counter-punch but once the headbutt occurred he started to look for a way out of the fight. It was evident that Judah was looking for a stoppage due to a headbutt or low blow but luckily the ref wasnt having any of that. Judah has been and will always be a top notch second tier fighter, much like Fernando Vargas who was in his corner, or like the late Arturo Gatti.

  • johnny rotten says:

kev you,ve got issues to deal with. sick. anyways weres Gilfoid, McKay and McDaniels i can guess they too have their little balls beside their belly buttons. Khan won and won well, deal with it.

    ourtesy of Micro Sports News:

Judah’s final Statement before the fight

“We’re definitely going to take him to school. I think after tonight, he’ll figure out that Golden Boy and his trainer, Freddie Roach, set him up as a pawn.” said the 33-year-old Judah, a three-time super lightweight champion and former welterweight champion. “For people that play chess, they know what that is. They set him up for a pawn and put him in a position that he shouldn’t have been in,” Judah added.

  • swan-sea says:

Peoples excuses now will be judah was past his prime and a shot fighter…when before the fright he was apparsntly ” to quick and to powerful for khan” pfft!

  • all a fix says:

whaty a fix, judah didnt even throw a punch, before the start the ref clearly said anything below the line is a low blow, you can clearly see from the replays the khans punch is below the waist line of judahs shorts, judahs shorts were not high but the manner he went down and stayed down just looked suspicious. go on khan carry on fighting over 30 fighters that are on the decline fight someone your own age who is just as hungry you will never do that.

how much more if PACMAN is at 100% when they trained with KHAN..

and KHAN was saying PACMAN is his idol…

  • michael says:

lahr, mcckay, gilford have either of these so called experts ever got a fight prediction right yet?, at least lahr seems to have got the sense to quit writing, as for the other two, lets hope they do

  • Hook says:

Anyone who thought Zab had nothing more than a punchers chance must be dreaming or doesn’t like khan for other reasons. This was a pension fight for Zab.
This was a make me look good fight like against faded fighters; Calzaghe V Eubank; Mayweather v Gatti, Froch V johnson.
For Amir To get any respect he needs to fight fighters who are of a similar status.
For him to get any respect in Britain he needs give Prescott a rematch especially after the manner he was defeated.

  • Anonymous says:

zab is useless when he’s not throwing. at least in the past, he worked his dangerous left behind effective jabbing but that $hit was on vacation tonight. pernell didn’t add much if anything. judah should just hang them up, 140 cooled off just as fast as it got hot. All the big money fights are at 147 and judah’s no good at that weight.

Khan destroyed this fool. Broke his heart, than ko’ed him with a powerful body shot. Zab can cry all he wants but he knew he was getting pounded on and unless his balls are on his six pack, he ko blow was CLEARLY on the stomach. He should continue fighting B+ fighters where he has a chance, not P4P material.

  • IpAkmAn says:

That unnamed writer is McKay can’t wait for his new article now.

  • Boxing Kangaroo says:

Too fast and too young. Khan dismantled and then destroyed Judah , a constantly overrated fighter who continues to lose the ‘big’ fights. He should never have been in this position anyway, after receiving some home cooking in his supposed victory against Lucas Mattysse. When reality hit and Judah knew he was out of his depth against Khan, he searched for a way out. A low blow was just the ticket. Bye Zab, fade off quietly into oblivion please. Congratulations Amir, look forward to your next fight.

Just paid $49.95 to watch this. Was shown one lead up fight between two blokes have never heard of. One was so over matched it was not funny. It gets stopped as soon as the over matched dude gets a solid punch in the face. The main event between two “champions” showed one bloke who was lights years better then the other. One gets hit in the guts and lays down like he has been shot by a cannon. He jumps up at the count of ten and says he was robbed. Please remind me why boxing is falling way behind as a main stream sport.

  • Lahrwill says:

Anthony, just name Scott Gilfold. And he is not the only one. The other is sacastic critic (not qualified as a sportswriter like you)is Williams. Why just not say “I think Zab will stop Khan on or before the 9th round”?

  • BoxingDawg says:
