Khan doesn’t plan on making the same mistakes Haye did

By Jason Kim: WBA World light welterweight champion Amir Khan (25-1, 17 KO’s) doesn’t plan on making the same mistakes that David Haye did in his loss to IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko recently. Haye went out and tried to intimidate Wladimir with trash talking and all kinds of mental game playing in order to throw him off before the fight.

It didn’t work. Wladimir stayed composed and pounded out a fairly easy 12 round decision by fighting behind his jab. Khan vows not to the same mistake that Haye did by trash talking for his fight against IBF light welterweight champion Zab Judah on July 23.

Khan said this to the Bolton News: “David did what he did and it sound the fight. It made him a lot of money. But I’m not one of those fighters who talk a lot before a fight. I’m a quiet guy. I wouldn’t want to be in that position because you put yourself under pressure…I think a lot of fighters start talking a lot when they can’t beat the fighter physically, so they try to beat them mentally”

Khan hasn’t talked a lot of trash for the Judah fight, although he isn’t hesitant to say that he thinks he’s going to win the fight. But it’s going to be a tough going in this fight if he can’t get Judah out of there, because he hits hard and is very fast. Judah is dangerous if he’s allowed to stay in the fight and land his bombs. This fight is different from Judah’s controversial 12 round decision over Lucas Matthysse last year.

Judah didn’t look like he believed he could hurt Matthysse and didn’t really push for a knockout because Matthysse has a reputation for having a strong chin. However, with Khan being known as a fighter who can be hurt by big shots, Judah is likely going to be loading up with everything he throws to try and get Khan out of there as quick as possible.
