Jason Estrada Cleared To Fight!

PROVIDENCE – 2004 United States Olympian, and professional heavyweight, Jason “Big Six” Estrada has been given a clean bill of health to begin full training following surgery to remove five bone chips from his elbow.
Estrada, a promotional free agent, is hoping to get right back in the ring and erase the memories of his last bout, a tenth round TKO loss to heavyweight contender Franklin Lawrence.

“In retrospect I should not have agreed to let Jason fight Lawrence at that point,” stated Roland Estrada, Jason’s father and trainer. “Jason hadn’t fought in almost a year and was coming off foot surgery. He was in and out of the gym because proposed fights kept falling through. Honestly we took the fight as a last minute comeback tune-up fight not realizing what a great challenge Lawrence would present. I would love to see that rematch but I do understand right now that Lawrence has bigger fish to fry.”

Despite the loss, Jason is confident that he can still reach the pinnacle of the division, which was evidenced in his previous bout, a close loss to former world cruiserweight & light heavyweight champion Tomasz Adamek, who will be challenging World Boxing Council (WBC) world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in September.

“I’m back in the gym and training hard so hopefully something pops off soon. I have shown I can compete with the best heavyweights in the world and I am patiently waiting my turn,” stated Jason, now 16-4, 4 KO’s. “Hopefully I’ll be back in the ring soon.”
