Bute stops Mendy, Pavlik next?

By Jim Dower: IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute did his part to set up a big money fight against former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik for November by destroying no. 1 challenger Jean-Paul Mendy by a 4th round knockout tonight in Romania.
With this win Bute will reportedly look to take on Pavlik in November in a fight that will be shown on HBO. Mikkel Kessler was an option for Bute, but he decided instead to take on Robert Stieglitz.
The way that Bute has been looking recently, Pavlik may be in for a really tough time against Bute because he’s got it all – power, speed and defensive skills. Pavlik only power and it’s unclear how much power he’ll have at the super middleweight level.

Bute wasn’t invited to the SuperSix … when it started Bute wasn’t such a big name like he is now … so stop making suppositions and wait for the match … i hope to see Bute fighting Froch in the future … that would be the best match this division has to offer … i like Ward … but a fighter that can’t deliver KO’s isn’t worth remembering …

i said that kessler was a coward because he is avoiding bute. The promoter of bute sent him an offer and bute never got an anwser…instead kessler is gonna fight stieglitz.

Hey people did any of you guys actually se the phantom punch Bute hit Mendy with?The man took a dive look at how clear his eyes were when he got up!Im sure he would have lost anyway but that was not a geuine knockout!

Bute is a dam joke he aint been in the ring with any of the real super middleweights i would rank him 4th or 5th. He is well behind Froch Ward Kessler and would get found out against any of them. Please tell me im wrong who has he been in with!

What fight were you watching? It was nothing like an even fight. Sure, Mendy threw a few good shots here and there, but he had no power to trouble Bute. I had Bute winning every round easily up until the KO.
Kessler would have put that joke away round 2. And he will take out bute round 1.When will Bute fight someone who is good?
I don’t see Martinez making the 6th round if he moved up to fight Bute.
Bute has his tactics right IMO. While the super-six contenders have been busy fighting each other, Bute has been honing his skills against lesser opponents and has been taking far less punishment.
When he faces the winner of Froch vs Ward, he will be the fresher fighter.
Tom says Kessler is a coward? He has fought everyone who is anyone and always comes to fight. I like Bute also, but Kessler is a good fighter and isn’t afraid of anyone. You’re way out in left field here.
Canada has never had a champion and there going to protect bute by putting him with nothing with trash, he is also being protected by showtime since he has a contract with them, I feel sorry when he actually steps up to the plate and actually boxes agains Martinez, he is a Fraud and he knows it.
I saw the game live in Romania, at ringside and I can tell you this: It was actually a surprising even fight until the 4′th round. Mendy had some very good punches, he backed Bute into the ropes more then once and the 4′th round was very good for Mendy. Unfortunately the left hook of Bute came and everything was over. Mendy had I think a more than decent fight. Watch the match were you can and tell me if I am wrong.
