Image: Khan-Judah: Amir carries on his quest for glory, but Zab isn't finished yetBy Peter Wells: It was only about a month or so ago that we were all expecting Timothy Bradley the unbeaten WBC/WBO Light Welterweight champion to be fighting the WBA Light Welterweight king Amir Khan. Instead we are set up for another unification fight where Khan shall face IBF ruler Zab Judah. It means that if a fight between Bradley and the winner of this fight comes through then we’ll be set to have an undisputed Light Welterweight champion holding all four major world titles at one weight. It isn’t often we see that now-a-days.

Unfortunately with governing bodies helping to ruin unification fights they’ll have to get in the ring together quick before the stupid idea of mandatory challengers comes into play. Some of the mandatory challengers I’ve seen over the last few years don’t even merit fighting the IBO champions let alone one of the major titles. It has ultimately made world titles less of a prize. The Welterweight division is a fine example as we have some amazing talents but the IBF and WBA titles are held by fighters who are known by hardcore fans only or fans from their own country.

These two fighters are keen to use their mouths to build up the fight, or should i say Twitter, which is where Amir Khan seems to do all his talking. I’m not one against trash talk but i prefer fighters to say things face to face not sending messages over a social network site. Now we all know Zab Judah for having plenty to say and if Khan wanted to be portrayed as the nice guy, well by talking trash won’t help him with the fans. He has also lashed out a Tim Bradley and Devon Alexander.

Khan though has many skills and under Freddie Roach has showcased some amazing defensive skills and a much more controlled attacking ability. Zab may be finding the Light Welterweight division easier but i can’t see that being enough against a young fighter set for greatness. Khan will be tested but we won’t know how good he is until he gets in the ring with the best Light Welterweight in the world. Until then Khan should stay champion but Zab won’t make it easy.
