Haye believes his fight with Wladimir will out-do Lewis-Tyson UK PPV buys

By William Mackay: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) believes his fight with IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) will out-do the 800,000 UK pay per view buys that the Lennox Lewis fight did against Mike Tyson.
Haye said this to the dailystar.co.uk: “Pay-per-view numbers will speak for themselves but I believe this will outdo Tyson-Lewis.”
It’s difficult to imagine the Haye vs. Klitschko fight out-selling Tyson vs. Lewis, simply because Tyson was a much bigger star than either Haye or Klitschko and Lewis was more popular than Haye in the UK.
Things are a lot different. Besides Tyson and Lewis being arguably more popular, the economy was a lot better back when Lewis and Tyson fought nine years ago in June 2002 compared today. People have less money to spend on the Haye vs. Klitschko fight.
Haye also hasn’t been fighting at heavyweight nearly as long as Tyson and Lewis were. Haye has only been a heavyweight for three short years. Before that, he fought at cruiserweight and fought largely obscure fighters that weren’t well known to the general public. Haye really needs to stick around for another three or four years to become a really huge star, but unfortunately he’s got his mind made up about retiring.

Illo i agree with the fact tht tyson was washed up but i think tyson in his prime wouldnt do much better against lewis. If lennox was american the majority would be sayin he was goat.

Hate is responsible for most of if not all the hype for this fight. He’s got under Klitschkos skin but it probably wont matter as Klits will settle when the bell rings. Looking forward to this one.
you are out of your mind haye, lewis v tyson was a historical match.
This fight has all the makings of being a bore fest I see the smaller fighter mainly running with survival as his stratagem of choice. There are going to be a lot of frustrated fans watching Haye scamper for his life for 12 interminable rounds. Nearly everyone will ardently pray that Wladimir can corner the mug and put him out of his misery.
What si so special about haye? He is not a complete boxer more or less an abraham with good movement and a clumsy defence and only have heavy hands and you all saw how Abraham was schooled against Froch and Ward. But Wlad is a complete boxer with the basic fundamentals any boxers needs the jab that was Ali,holmes and lennox basic punch that took them to stardom.

Terry what planet are you on? Lewis never despised Tyson. They knew each other since they were 14 and were friends of sorts. They became a lot closer after retirement though. Lewis didn’t even have any children when Tyson said that.
Im a BIG FAN of both fighters and this fight but this WILL NOT out do the PPV buys of Tyson-Lewis

I have no idea why the fight between Lewis- Tyson was of any interest. Tysons career was over and he was damaged goods Lewis knew it, I knew it, its was of no relevance whatsoever. Tyson had 6 fights in 5 years with nobodies after a fight against Holyfield that showed Tysons mind had gone.
This was just a name on the record of lewis that frankly meant nothing.
The same name on Williams and McBrides resume. Shame really.
