Image: Fury cuts out junk food for Chisora boutBy Sean McDaniel: Unbeaten Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KO’s) has battled weight problems for most of his still young three year pro career and it’s clearly been a problem for him where he’s looked sluggish in many of his fights that have gone past four rounds. However, Fury, 23, finally has taken things seriously and cut out the junk food shortly after sparring with IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and noting how in shape he was compared his own flabby physique.

Fury will need to be in the best possible shape he can be in for his next bout against British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) on July 23 at the Wembley Arena, Wembley, London, UK. Chisora is a fighter that punches hard and puts a lot of pressure on his opponents, especially during the later rounds. If Fury isn’t in the shape of his life for that fight, he’s going to lose.

Speaking with the dailymail.co.uk, Fury said “I know I looked like a fat pig before and I thought I could get away with it because I was big enough to keep winning. Biut now it’s getting serious and I realize I have to get rid of the junk food. I couldn’t go to the cinema without a ton of popcorn, sweets and ice cream and I would lounge around at home shifting bundles of sugar…Now I’m only taking in water, meat, fruit and vegetables. I feel so much healthier and stronger.”

This will be interesting to see if Fury is being straight about his diet, because if he trots out looking just as flabby as usual for Chisora, we’ll know Fury’s been cheating on his diet and he’ll be in for a lot of trouble with Chisora. It’s hard to imagine an in shape Fury. He’s always been so flabby around the middle that it’s almost impossible to consider Fury coming into the fight without a spare tire around his midsection.
