Angulo wants to fight Saul Alvarez

By Eric Thomas: Number #2 ranked WBC junior middleweight contender Alfredo Angulo (19-1, 16 KO’s) is interested in facing WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (36-0-1, 26 KO’s) in the near future if Alvarez can get by this Saturday’s opponent Ryan Rhodes. Angulo is training for a fight on August 20th against a still to be determined opponent in Mexico.
The chances of Angulo getting a fight with Alvarez are pretty remote at best. Alvarez is only 20, and Angulo, 28, might be considered too dangerous for him. Besides that, Angulo already has one fighter ahead of him in #1 ranked Vanes Martirosyan. However, Alvarez may opt to go after Ricardo Mayorga next rather than take on tough fighters like Martirosyan and Angulo.
Angulo hasn’t fought since stopping Joachim Alcine in the 1st round last year in July. Angulo has won his last four fights since being beaten by Kermit Cintron by a 12 round decision in 2009. Angulo defeated Joel Julio by an 11th round TKO last year in April. Before that, Angulo beat Harry Joe Yorgey and Gabriel Rosado.
A lot of boxing fans have been wondering what’s been the hold up for Angulo, as he’s wasted a lot of time by staying out of the ring the entire year. One would hope that Angulo will start being more active from now on. He can’t afford to be throwing away years of his career with inactivity.

THIS FIGHT WOULD BE A GOOD FIGHT BUT I DOUBT IT WILL EVER HAPPENED JUST LIKE WHEN CANELO WAS CALLIN OUT CHAVEZ JR. AND THEN JR SAID HE’LL FIGHT CANELO BUT THAT FIGHT HAS NEVER HAPPENED I WONDER WHY?????? Actually c.j.g. Angulo is a good figther and was suppose to beat cintron…but even hbo before the fight said that he was sick with the flu. I think kermit the frog would’ve hoped out the ring for dat fight due to the danger. I personally hate cintro because of the martinez fight…he’s such a girl… martinez and angulo great match.

saul alvarez is going to be a great.. i can see it. He need to step up and take a big fight next year. Chavez jR or cotto. I think he’d win both of them.
Angulo is just a brawler nothign especial. he was beaten prettty badly by Cintron who is not a really good fighter.
well the reason Angulo hasn’t been fighting is because he can’t fight in the US at the moment. He was living in the US illegally. Hopefully he gets all that straightened out soon. He’s got great potential.

Sounds like we all miss this dude. I’d like to see him and Martinez….Pac…..Floyd ….anybody? This is why ufc is gaining pop thier best fighters fight each other frequently. Those guys get paid pennies compared to boxers. They getting screwed by by ufc moneymachine.

Angulo has not been active because of legal problems.
Apparently Angulo is “illegal” and has no papers to be in America.
I do not know if he has been deported yet, but HBO and SHOWTIME have stated that they will not show any more of Angulos fights for breaking the law and entering the USA illegaly.

The guy is Mexican, his ancestors were here before any European, Black, Asian, or any one else, and yet hes the “illegal” on lands that were stolen with lies, false treaties, and murders.
Angulo is not an illegal, he is a descendant of the indigenous people of North America, it would be DAMN sad for this guy to only fight and be aired in Mexico.

Dont get your hopes up on this fight happening, angulos one of those fighters that many say theyre not elite, yet they get ducked by all the “big names”..i hope to see el perro fight a good draw soon…

Angulo is to dangerous for young canelo, it’s a shame, But there are other fights out there for a warrior like Angulo. I hope he fights soon.
Alvarez will not fight Angulo…….Televisa won´t allowe it….. Canelo would loose by KO in less than 5 rounds
