If Chavez Jr. beats Zbik, he’ll face Cotto at a catchweight in September
By Richard Hall: It has been reported that Top Rank could match up unbeaten Julio Cesar Chavez (42-0-1 30 KOs) with Puerto Rico’s Miguel Angel Cotto (36-2, 29KOs). This is provided that Chavez beats World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik (30-0, 10 KO’s) on June 4th at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. This could be a chance for former 3 weight world champion and currant WBC light middleweight world champion Miguel Cotto to become a four weight world champion by capturing WBC middleweight title at a 155 pound catchweight.
I think this could be an easy win for Cotto because Chavez Jr. is as one dimensional as they come and Cotto can box against those types of fighters. It is reported by the Sports Press that there could be a 155 catch weight making it easier for Cotto to make the weight. Cotto (36-2, 29 KOs) is very active in Puerto Rico with his company Miguel Cotto Promotions and last Friday held a successful card in Ponce.

They have to match chavez with cotto so top rank could make some money..If not some bum might ko out and bye bye 2 that.look what juanma and gamboa are going thru..no money fight in sight..gamboa a superstar with out the super fight.its a must..better cotto ko then someone like alfonso gomez.
No Body like Chavez and Chavez Jr.And stop talking caca (please).Cause i think you all kind of scary.Hahahaha Goodby you little fellows
well the doon doon hater lets wait and see who bites ths dust so mamon.
once cotto feels julio’s power,he’ll start to run around the ring like he did against marg, clottey and pac,,,he also did agains mosley in second half of fight,,,he isn’t the warrior people make him out to be
woo more b1tchweight fights from Top Rank.
gotta love how Arum is just erasing the point of weight divisions.
This is a joke in many respects.
Cotto– paper champion at jr. middleweight, he does not belong to 154lbs. Who has he fought at this weight? nobodies
Chavez jr– paper #1 challenger, pampered career, have never fought a real opponent
155lbs—catch-up weights are a disgrace for the sport, they should be as illegal as loaded gloves are (are they?). One pound over the limit…wasn’t Floyd more than one pound heavier whenn he fought Marquez (read with a sarcastic tone lol)
Cotto is past his prime, Chavez JR will never have a prime, and 155 is a blatant joke.
DO NOT GET TO EXCITED FOLKS, THIS IS JUST BS
@mr.calinorth dude everybodys opinion has to be respected individuals wont always think the same but you clearly are not a boxing fan your just a puerto rican hatter i would school you but i dont cuz you dont have enough knowledge to even compete with me so i will just let you be ignorant but i will say this either a puerto rican took your girl or maybe embarrased you or whooped you regardless the reason stop hating your not hurting us your only hurting your self because you can talk all day but the fact is if we talk about boxing in general puerto rico will always be on the top 5 list as far as nationality so keep hating and besides arent you colombian??? do you guys even box??? ha ha ha ha na you guys grow that white powder thats all
Cotto would destroy Chavez. Let this fight happen so Cotto can get another belt. Then when maragrito:s face is healed from the beating he took from pacquiao then let there be a reamtch between cotto and him without cheating.
I do think Cotto has the upper hand in this fight but you cant count chavez out because im pretty sure his father a boxing legend julio cesar chavez the father would be involved in that training camp a\nd to me he would give chavez better insight than roach. is funny this fight might happen because for the longest roach has been talking alot that cotto is no match for chavez jr which is not true.
THAT IS A BIG IF
catchweight this, catchweight that, blah, blah, blah,
@Caribbean fool…. now I know jcc Jr gonna win. Your the same dumba*ss that predicted both juanma & wv2 would take the titles back 2 PR….. by the way, how’d that work out 4 u.
enough with this stupid belt count! This is laughable and has been for a long time.
Miguel Cotto vs Victor Ortiz at 147lb
You ricans dropping like puerco Rico at a fat man convention.
CHAVEZ JR#1
Lol at silky and Cali north star to think Chavez really has a chance. It’s about time this hype job loses and then what. Maybe roach can use him as a punching bag at the wild card. Real talk.
Listen Everybody A Few Years Back In New York I Met Julio Caesar Chavez Jr.He’s A Nice Young Man And I Have A Ton Of Respect For Him But I Think His Management Advisers Are Completely Crazy If They Put Him In That Ring With My Guy Miguel Cotto Cause Once Cotto Punishes Him To Oblivian His Daddy Julio Sr.Is Gonna Run In There To Run Try And Save Him From A Further Beating And I Agree With”Doc”Why Fight Jr.For A Worthless”Paper”Title And Go Fight Sergio Martinez For The Real Legitimate World Middleweight Championship!
Cotto is the last champ that puerto rico has to bad he’s shot. Once again Mexicans we hear, Chavez! Chavez! Chavez! Chavez!
chavez dont have nothing for cotto another victory for the puerto rican yes sir.
Chavez’s people have to be stupid. The money that could be generated by a Canelo fight would dwarf the money from a Cotto fight. And Cotto should be fighting martinez
Chavez is to big for Cotto. Jr. by ko in late rounds.
“doon doon doon, another rican bites the dust, doon doon doon, another rican bites the dust, and another rican, and another rican, another rican bites the dust!” (song)
Thats If Chavez Jr. Gets Past Zbik! (Sebastian Zbik is very underrated and dangerous too!) Cotto vs Chavez jr. will be big its allways big when you have Mexico vs Puerto Rico!
All I know is that Chavez Jr. will not have it easy from this point on and he has to egnore all the haters out there they will keep bringing up excuses to downsize your victories! Just ask Floyd Mayweather and Pacman!
