Groves beats Degale

By Joe Gorman: James DeGale (10-1, 8 KO’s) and George Groves (13- 0, 10KO’s) produced a British master class fight tonight at the O2 Arena in London, England with Groves winning by a 12 round majority decision. First of all, I would like to give respect to Groves for the boxing ability he showed through out the fight. He fought a better planed fight and I have to say not many people expected it.
DeGale lost the fight because of his own temperament. He didn’t pressure enough in the early rounds looking for big shots and forgetting to score. His jab was the key and he wasn’t using it enough. People should not discredit Groves for DeGale’s performance because he was most definitely the smarter fighter and DeGale did not expect it. I am happy to be a witness to this brilliant boxing match i personally thought it was a draw or DeGale by a round however i am happy for groves and would like to see what he has to bring next.

If James had only upped his workrate towards the latter part of the contest he was so obviously the stronger. If I was George I’d make James wait for a rematch for all the trash talking and abuse levelled at him by James. David Haye take heed you’ve gained a title shot by beating a freak, a has been and a never was. In time you’ll learn you’re not endearing yourself to the Bristish public by badmouthing opponents try a little dignity.

last night was a big occasion for both fighters so early in their careers.both would have learnt a lot from this.george is only 23,i would have folded like a pack of cards..nice one st.george!
I had Groves winning this by a round. Degale was lackluster in the first few rounds then Groves was clever and boxed smart the whole fight. Degale is a loudmouth not many people like and he got found out, if he’d have pressured more maybe it’d been a different story, but the form Groves was in maybe not. Good job the BBBofC stopped the side bet happening, cuz he’d have lost his title for free. hahaha T**T
i had it a draw!!was impressed by groves tactics,dont think degale knew what 2 do 4 the first 6 rounds

I missed the fight, because I’m in the US and I tried to stream it to late. But Congratulations to Groves, hopefully they’ll have a rematch later on in there careers. I hope someone puts the replay up online a.s.a.p

Bullcr*p, the first rounds were Groves as DeGale was chasing him and taking shots.
Then, Degale tried to draw Groves and counter him, won a few rounds but not much thrown nor landed.
This just confirms there are no ‘sure thing’ in boxing. So many guys gave Groves absolutely ‘no chance’ in this fight and what happens?…
