Froch wants Kessler and Pascal rematches
By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KO’s) is dreaming of fighting rematches against Mikkel Kessler and Jean Pascal. It burns Froch that Kessler was able to beat him last year in the Super Six tournament and Froch wants to try and avenge that defeat.
It seems like a regressive thing to go back and fight Pascal again, especially with Pascal looking so horrible in his fight with Bernard Hopkins. It’ll be interesting to see if Froch still wants to waste time fighting Pascal again if he loses to Hopkins on Saturday. Talk about your silly fights. I can see it now, Froch fighting Pascal after he’s been dominated by Hopkins and puts himself in the situation where he’ll get no credit for beating Pascal again.
Speaking with the morningstaronline.co.uk, Froch said “The first pick for me would be the Kessler fight. I’ve had a decision go against me with him and I want to rectify that immediately. I don’t think that’s the biggest fight out there. The Pascal fight at light-heavyweight is a big, big fight. The Calzaghe fight is a dream fight, not just for me, but all fight fans would want to see it and if that fight can happen it’s a fight that should happen. I know he’s been retired and out of the gym for a while, but it’s not something you can rule out.”
Honestly, it sounds like Froch is really reaching here. Joe Calzaghe probably isn’t going to ever come back, so Froch needs to let that go. And the Pascal rematch isn’t a big, big fight like Froch thinks it is, especially once Pascal gets schooled by 46-year-old Hopkins.
Once Pascal gets beaten by Hopkins and then beaten again by Chad Dawson or someone else, few people will care to see Froch face Pascal. And I’m not even going into the troubles that Froch faces in the Super Six tournament in his upcoming fight with Glen Johnson. I see Froch losing that fight and once he does, do you think anyone will care to see Froch fight Pascal and Kessler again? I don’t see the interest being there. I mean there may be interest but not the kind of interest there would be if Froch wasn’t beaten.
If I was Froch, I’d forget all about fighting Pascal and Kessler again. He needs to move forward and go after someone like Kelly Pavlik. He’s flawed and slow, and it would be a good fight to see Froch and him go at it. There both painfully slow and it would be like watching mirrored images fighting. If Froch faces Kessler again, he’s only going to get beat again and probably get all upset about it and say that he won. It’s best for Froch to save himself the aggravation and just fight some new guys. By going back in the past so much, it seems kind of weird to me, like Froch can’t let go. Things always look better in retrospect.

froch face needs to consider retirement.
He promised Pascal a rematch after their first fight… And it makes sense if Pascal is a belt holder and lets be ho set, Froch did a lot better job on Pascal than Hopkins did. Froch won clearly and Hopkins didn’t look a million dollars against Pascal.
Scott just come out and say that you cannot stand Froch. I’m not particularly fond of him as a person, but he’s a fighter and he always entertains. Unlike some of the boxers that you coo over week after week.
FROCH SHOULD JUST FIGHT TUNE UPS TO BUILD HIS RETIREMENT ACCOUNT FOLLOWED BY FIGHTS FOR BELTS. THE MONEY FIGHTS ARE MOSTLY FOR BELTS. HOWS CALZAGHES RETIREMENT FUND HOLDING UP? AFTER FROCH WINS THE SUPER SIX HE CAN FIGHTB JOE IF JOE WANTS ONE LAST HUGE PAY DAY. OR FROCH MIGHT TAKE ON HOPKINS IF HE BEATS PASCAL.
This writer is in total disalusional reality to the real deal.First off I thought Froch won a close decision against Kessler.my opinion of course.,And I thought that Pascal won a close decision over the no question great Hopkins.schooled by hopkins yes,not beaten however ,tune in and watch reality unfold.
Froch should just concentrate on Johnson at the moment, because he is getting too far ahead of himself.
You can only take one fight at a time and that applies to any boxer. If he wins his next fight, then he needs to focus his concentration on Ward.
froch..who the f.. is froch? hes ugly and i dont like him
Froch should have a rematch with Dirrel on neutral ground. Froch lost the first go around but got an obvious gift. That and Pavlik would be good for Froch as The Cobra should be able to win rather easily in that, but I doubt Arum would allow that. Who knows, maybe if he puts up a good fight Ward will give him a rematch. He could, but really I don’t see Froch making more than 4 rounds even close against Ward. Froch is a tough fighter that will fight the best though, it just needs to be outside of England as the judges in the Dirrel fight were as terrible as Lewis-Holyfield I.
frochs on his way to being the best fighter britains produced, look at his last 5 fights, who else has done that, with that calibre of opposition, saying that i think calzaghe would have dusted him back a few fights ago,but froch is getting better and the guys tough as nails, shame it never happened, froch doesnt duck anyone either, alot of boxers could learn a few things from froch,he is the real deal.
@alfonso – well said re: dirrell, the man makes me sick, wimped out because he didn’t want to face ward, froch would never ever duck anyone and WILL beat kessler on neutral turf !!!
Froch wants Kessler again but on home or neutral turf out of the hands of corrupt Sauerland judges, the whole Kessler fight was a joke, Carl had a 14 hour trip by road and on a propeller plane the day before the weigh in because of the volcanic ash cloud, then he got royally shafted by Roger Tillamn who lives in Sauerlands back pockets.
Froch is a legend, he’s got more balls than Dirrell who bailed on the whole thing when he had to face Ward.
He wants Pascals belt, hence why he said he’d fight him again if he beat Hopkins
