Froch: Johnson’s fighting style is made for me

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KO’s) has previously said that he’s not going to just stand in front of his opponent Glen Johnson (51-14-2, 35 KO’s) when they fight it out in the semifinals of the Super Six tournament on Saturday night at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Froch said that he would hit and not get hit in return and presumably that would mean that Froch intends on doing a lot of movement to keep from being stationary for the hard hitting 42-year-old Johnson. However, Froch has now whistling a different tune, saying “Johnson is perfect for me. He’s made for me. He’ll be right there, right in front of me.”

I had a feeling that Froch would forget all about trying to use movement in this fight because it would mean that Froch would be changing his fighting style completely for this bout, and you know what they say about old dogs not being able to learn new tricks. But then again, maybe Froch forgot all about what he had said before about wanting to hit and not get hit.

Whatever the case, if Froch is going to be taking advantage of Johnson when he’s right in front of him, you have to assume Froch is going to try and slug with Johnson. In other words, Froch will fight the way he always had in the past and will be looking to go to war with the hard puncher.

I don’t give Froch any chance of beating Johnson if Froch elects to trade with him. The only way Froch can win this fight is if he runs all night and his legs don’t give out on him. Johnson is good at cutting off the ring and he’ll literally force Froch to fight him whether he wants to or not.

@evil scotsman. i agree with your prediction. i think froch learned from the the kessler fight to box clever rather than slugging it out with his guard down. i just hope he wins and takes on ward because that will be a great fight as long as wards and froch’s ego’s dont get the better of them and they start demanding stupid requests. gilfoid your a tool.

I think what Froch is saying is that he will try and box Johnson but he won’t have to go looking for him because he will just plod forward. Whether Froch keeps this game plan up for 12 rounds or gets drawn into a war I think either way it will suit Froch. Could be another exciting Carl Froch show! Looking forward to it! Prediction = Froch UD

Make a deal with us Scott, Froch wins u stop writing this tripe, if your man wins u can keep doing these pointless articles.

  • Paul Howell says:

What was the point of the article, just so the writere can let everyone know he still dislikes British fighters……Good one.

  • ste says:

froch’s defense was better in the AA fight than in any other fight and froch said at the end of the fight he will use it more rather than gong all in after the defeat by kessler because if he kept his guard up he would have won against kessler. johnson wont be able to handle froch but scott would love to handle glens johnson ha ha

blah blah blah blah…..thats more interesting to read than this fools tosh.

  • Wiseguy says:

Froch needs someone to really shake him up, just like Taylor did early in the fight. Carl’s guard is so suspect and I think Glen could use the window to his advantage. On paper Froch should win but against Glen……no one ‘really’ knows.

  • D Nice says:

Froch will not be able to deal with Johnsons pressure! Knockout!!
