Image: Abraham-Ward, Froch-Johnson Super Six quotesBy Scott Gilfoid: During last night’s welterweight clash between WBO champion Manny Pacquiao and challenger Shane Mosley, the Super Six tournament contestants sounded off with some good quotes about their upcoming Super Six tourney fights. WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch faces veteran Glen Johnson next month on June 4th, and next Saturday night WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward, the real talent in the tourney and the fighter expected to win the tourney, will be fighting Arthur Abraham on May 14th.

Here is what the Super Six tourney fighters had to say:

Arthur Abraham:

“For me, it’s very urgent to win. It’s very important for me. It’s my last chance and I must win.”

Andre Ward:

“I have utmost respect for Arthur Abraham as a former champion with 10 defenses. This isn’t a guy you take lightly. I’ll be prepared one week from today for my championship fight against Arthur.”

Glen Johnson:

“For me, you got to be excited about getting a second chance. I’m excited about being a part of it [the Super Six tournament] and I’m looking forward to winning the championship.”

Carl Froch:

“Andre Dirrell came into the arena like a thief in the night and tried to steal my world title. That’s never going to work. I can count on one hand the amount of times I got hit in that fight. It was far different with Mikkel Kessler. We both put it on the line and left it in the ring. It was a tough fight between two warriors. We were both in there to win. Unfortunately, that didn’t go my way on that night, but I came back and put that fight against Arthur Abraham with a boxing masterclass. It was a one-sided affair against a great fighter in Arthur Abraham. Glen Johnson brings something entirely different to the ring. he’s very tough and very strong, and very experienced. And he deserves that and deserves respect. And that’s what he’ll get on the night. I’m expecting a great fight and a victory for me.”

I’m personally going with Ward to easily beat Froch this Saturday night in a one-sided shutout win. Ward has too much talent for Abraham and he’s going to expose him. As for the Froch-Johnson fight on June 4th, I got to go with Johnson. He’s a better all around fighter and can fight well both on the inside and the outside. He’ll take the fight to the inside and expose Froch’s lack of an inside game and batter him and possibly knock him out. Froch has already been staggered against the talented Dirrell and also staggered by Kessler. Those fighters weren’t able to follow up with anything big enough to finish off Froch. Johnson will.
