Hopkins-Pascal 2: Bernard may come up short this time around

By Dan Ambrose: 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KO’s) may have missed out on his best chance of beating World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-1-1, 16 KO’s) last December in his 12 round draw. That was a fight that Hopkins could have won had he not been knocked down two times early in the fight. All Hopkins had to do was stay on his feet and he would have won, but his chin betrayed him and he went down when he got hit hard a couple of times.
Hopkins was able to outwork Pascal last time out by pressuring him and throwing a lot of short choppy punches. The shots weren’t big or particularly fast but instead they just never stopped coming. It was like watching Andre Ward fight. Hopkins kept coming forward and letting his hands go and getting in close with Pascal to beat him on the inside. Pascal seemed to fade as the fight wore on into the later rounds. However, because of his good work in the first four rounds, Pascal was able to get at least a draw out of the fight. However, this time around I expect Pascal to be much busier than last time out, knowing that the only way to beat Hopkins is by out-working him with constant shots. Pascal can’t beat Hopkins by staying on the outside and landing pot shots. That would only work if Pascal was light on his feet enough to stay out of the way of Hopkins. Pascal doesn’t have the stamina to play hit and run for 12 rounds and will instead have to focus on beating Hopkins by throwing a lot of fast punches the same way that Joe Calzaghe defeated Hopkins in 2008.

Pascal doesn’t have the stamina to fight with a veteran like BHOP, it showed in the first. Hopkins didn’t get hit on his chin and go down he was hit in the back of the head. Hopkins by UD or a late stoppage.
If you cannot expand your litteracy a bit then I guess it is an English blunder,and for God sakes if you want to fight till 60 i realy don,t have a problem with it,so long as it is wise.some like hopkins stay in excellent shape and can still be safe and effective.,I just saw a 34 year old,war horse get hit alot in the Maidana fight.how much more should that gut obsorb.hopkins does not take shots like that,so good for him and good luck.

Annonymous your talking shi— as usual. Archie Moore was fighting title fights into his 50′s. Freakin friscoe doesn’t know what hes talking about! Stanky Ass picks his own prearranged opponents. Let him fight Danny Green, no Gall Bladder and All. Let the fight take place in Jakarta or Singapore. Lets see the hair on Stanky Assed chest then.
Bernard has alot of following now that he is trying to best Foremans record of age,as being a bit too old to claim a major title.everyone is pulling for B Hop so Pascal will have to win very convincingly,I think by KO.Or he risks the judges pre ordained will.
in fairness to bhop he didn run much in de 1st fight,i actually thought he was de agresser
Have the fight in the smallest boxing ring allowed by the authorities and then we will see who wins when they go toe to toe.
That should help to stop too much of the running around that we have seen in recent fights.

Hopkins is plain nasty. He couldn’t need the money. He’s in there to be a spoiler, I give Pascal credit for putting Hopkins down, just once. I don’t count the push down to the back of the head. But after that Hopkins, beginning with body shots, took over the fight. He may be to old to pull it off again but I’m not wagering againt him.
Have Stanky Ass Hopkins fight in a place like Jakarta Indonesia and the frisco wouldn’t know what the fu–ch to talk about or what to do inside the ring due to the lack of supportive forums for his criminal ass. How about a rock and roll with Danny Green after you lose to Pascal you Stanky Ass.

except for rare cases 46 is a bit over the Hill.
If Bernard continues his test of age he will start loseing fights he would have youngerly won.

de 1st knock down was clearly on de back of de head,even if it was 2 proper knock downs (which it wasnt)hopkins stil shudda got de decision,he was also robbed against calzaghe
Pascal is overrated, like to see him end Hopkins career.
IT WASNT HIS CHIN THAT GOT HIT. HOPKINS GOT KNOCKED DOWN FROM HITS ON THE SIDE TO BACK OF HIS HEAD.
