Gamboa could face Rafael Marquez next, says Arum

By Dan Ambrose: Juan Manuel Lopez (30-1, 27 KO’s) was supposed to be facing Rafael Marquez (39-6, 35 KO’s) in a needless rematch next, but Orlando Salido wrecked those plans by stopping Lopez in the 8th round on April 16th. Lopez now has to waste valuable time in his career going over old ground to try and hopefully avenge the loss to Salido rather than moving on for his money fight with Marquez and a fight with Gamboa. Instead of Lopez getting the rematch with the 36-year-old Marquez it may well be IBF/WBA featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (20-0, 16 KO’s).
Ideally, Gamboa should be matched with some younger contenders rather than the recently beaten Marquez. Cellestino Caballero or Mikey Garcia would be excellent choices for Gamboa to fight instead of matching him with Marquez.

Damn, Arum is a joke. He keeps pitting Gamboa and Lopez against the same opponents (mtagwa, salido, and now marquez) when he should have had them face each other in the first place. I’m a fan of Marquez, but he came off a tough loss against Lopez and I think he’s too shopworn at this point to be competitive against a beast like Gamboa.
The fight could have interest ,especialy early.Gamboa will need to do his homework against the dangerous foe.

Marquez had his times allready, I think gamboa is going to destroyed Marquez and possibly end his carreer. Either way i will love to see the fight but the honest trust Gamboa is to fast and strong for Marquez. But again anything could happen in boxing and four those who douted Gamboa’s chin, he took some flush shoots from salido in that fight and only one barely hurt him. Lopez would not stand a chance against Gamboa but that is just my opinion.
So Gamboa shouldn’t fight “the recently beaten Marquez” but he should fight the more recently beaten Cabellero?

@resistnsmoke or should i say weed smoker: there is no way marquez would have beat lopez, lopez was wining almost all the rounds impressively so marquez lost and would have lost again. But styles makes fights and i feel marquez will be alot tougher than arum thinks if not win
