Weigh-in: Solis 246, Vitali 249
By Scott Gilfoid: At today’s weigh-in, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko came in at an in shape 249 lbs for his fight against unbeaten Odlanier Solis for Saturday’s bout in Cologne, Germany. For his part, Solis came in at a fat 246, which is 16 pounds lighter than his last fight in December when he came in at a hefty 260 for his fight against Ray Austin.
When Solis and Vitali stood for a face off, once again Solis was unable to meet Vitali’s gaze and opted not to stare at Vitali. The size differences between the two fighters were monumental. Solis looked like a slightly overweight cruiserweight taking on a super heavyweight. Solis has virtually no chance of winning this fight unless Vitali suffers an injury. We’re talking different classes of fighters here. Solis would do well against a short cruiserweight-like heavyweight like 6’2″ 210 pound WBA heavyweight champion David Haye but not against a super heavyweight like Vitali. My prediction is that this fight will be one of the most one-sided bouts within memory for Vitali.

Nostradamus, i come her lots of times… lets make a deal when vitali destroys solis you will retire this goofy screen name… DEAL ?
I saw Solis at the Open workout two days ago and he looked really focused and agressive during the training. The public was really impressed. Although at 246 he could still loose a bit more fat, it might turn out to be a better fight than Vitali’s recent ones…
good point michael. i also might consier betting on solis now
damn i had vitali to win, but since lahr, williams and gilford all think vitali wins easy im reconsidering, neither have ever got a prediction right.
bill,
to say that Solis coming into the fight at the same weight as Vitali is not a problem is ludicrous. Vitali is not only 6 inches taller, but much bigger as well. His frame is suited to 249 ponds. At 6’1, Solis is simply overweight, and this will shoq.
BIG G prepares already an excuse? Not necessary, Kltschko breaks his own physical records in training. If he looses than because it might be the first real opponent since Lewis.
the only wat solis wins is if the age has caught up with vitali..he is abit talented but ppl are looking at his am record to much.how many times does it need to be said.amature records mean nothing in the pro ranks
I had this fight down as an easy win for Vitali but now Gilfoid has f**Ked that up by predicting the same. Thanks a lot!
Solis will cause a major upset and win by a very close points decision.
Lets get real here. Vitali destroyed the likes of Albert Sosnowski, Chris Arreola, Samuel Peter, Danny Williams, etc. His last fight he put a very big man in the Hospital in Intensive Care Unit. Good Luck to Team SOlis. LOL! I hope David haye is Watching, cause then Solis will go on that list of names. Haye wont want any part of either brother after this fight. Notice it hasn’t been officially inked in yet. Bet Haye team is waiting on the results of this fight.
Vitali has all the advantages.
The one that stood out to me at the weigh in was the psychological one. Solis couldn’t look or shake hands with Vitali, I wonder why?
@bill what do you wanna say? weak or more stamina?
No matter what, Solis will loose.
if solis lost too much weight he’d feel incredibly weak against vitali. Drastic weight loss can leave a fighter drained of energy. He weighs about the same as vitali and can therefore still keep to the center of the ring if he chooses too. His stamina will have improved too.
The uppercut is THE tool against Solis. And the workrate. I hope for interesting beginning rounds though, hate these Briggs-Fights meanwhile.
Yes, uppercuts are very efective against Solis.
The Cuban fighter looks like he has more interest in what’s for lunch at KFC than being heavyweight champion of the world. After viewing the weigh-in pics it does not look good for Solis if the shape of his gut is any indication. Too much lard and therefore the Cubano will be no problemo for Dr. Ironfist.
Even without the surplus blubber Solis would come in second best in this upcoming bout. Vitali is simply the better boxer and fighter and we will be treated to a eye-opener of this bit of boxing reality in just a few hours.
LOL! Look at those love handles. Solis is gonna get destroyed. Of course, Vitali will take his time and let it go 5-7 rounds, cause too early wont look good for Vitali. They will say he cherry picked. I want to see him destoy Solis though. I want Haye to take NOTE! Watch Carefully, cause this is what you get when you are a heavyweight chump fighting a SuperWeight Master!
solis looks really small and . . . pudgy.
Solis & Haye are the only dudes under 6’2″ that have a chance. But I wouldn’t bet on it. A good big man is better than a good small man. Vitali is the most dominant fighter in the history of the sport!
hes still too heavy i think he wont last the pace
solis by the 3rd round will give up,he’ll begin to hug and thats how the fight will be,kind of like samuel peter, just hugging to survive and then he’ll quit around the 9th round
soliis just looks fat
Great weight for Odlanier.
He’ll last a little bit longer.
Cannon fauder for Vitali!
