Maidana-Morales: Marcos looking to slaughter Erik on April 9th

By Dan Ambrose: Former three time world champion Erik Morales (51-6, 35 KO’s) has picked the wrong fighter to try and resurrect his career against with the hard hitting light welterweight contender Marcos Maidana (29-2, 27 KO’s). On April 9th, Morales will come into the ring a heavy underdog in his fight at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Morales doesn’t have the power at light welterweight and seems to be in the wrong weight class against the wrong fighter.
Morales is going to probably get into a brief war with Maidana on April 9th and quickly get torn apart within three or four rounds. If you have nothing to keep Maidana off of you or if you don’t run for the hills the way that WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan did in his fight against Maidana, you’re going to get run over by a steamroller. Morales won’t get far in this fight because he doesn’t have the tools to beat a young slugger like Maidana. It’s going to be short, one-sided and brutal with Maidana beating up and finishing off Morales in the first few rounds.

I would like to see morales win,but that maidana is a banger say no more.
Never under estimate El Terrible….. Morales all the way.. This fight will be one of the biggest upset in boxing history for 2011.. Morales by UD.

Hey guys I know you guys think Morales is done, I have a little hunch we might see the same Morales when he fought manny. When everybody was saying Morales was going to get destroyed. For the record I was rooting for Maidana in the Khan fight but he started to cut the ring off to late. I dont think Khan was saved by the bell, I think Marcos was saved by the bell at the end of the 1st. I dont like Khan but he did build a huge lead in the first 4rds. He was up by 5 points already
Maidana a power puncher with ZERO boxing skills. Erik will give him a boxing lesson and should go for body shots all night. Erik wins by KO.
Skill and power wise P4P in their prime Morales would have ate a guy like Maidana up! I like Maidana 4 his heart and style but i hate this fight! It’s always a bit guttin to see one of ur heroes lose! But it’s worse when he loses to a guy that a few years previous u know couldn’t lace his gloves!
Maidana will be way to much for morales
Maidana will lure Morales into a slug fest and it’ll be over. Morlaes doesn’t have the chin to withstand Maidana’s power. and we all no Morales won’t back down from a slugging contest. If Morales can box he might have a chance but i doubt it
This could actualy be like the ortiz fight.Back and forth action of big bombs by both.A brawl.
Plain an simple,if morales wins,morales keeps advancing. If morales loses,he needs to retire.

not a good opponent for Morales. The body punch argument is valid. Has anyone wondered why after putting Maidana on the canvas in agony in the first round that he never threw that punch again. Never a mention of it by Freddy between rounds.

maidana is very weak in the body and morales is a better body puncher than khan,also morales is way much more accurate puncher than khan,EL TERRIBLE BY TKO IN 7 ROUNDS.
