Is Donaire better than Pacquiao?

By Dan Ambrose: It’s interesting that WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire was never on any of Manny Pacquiao’s undercards despite fighting for the same Top Rank promotional company for the past three years and being one of the best fighters in all of boxing. I personally see Donaire as a better fighter than Pacquiao now. Donaire is much more dominating and wins his fights in a much cleaner manner compared to Pacquiao.
I think he’s not only better than Pacquiao, I think he’s a lot better than him. The only thing I can give to Pacquiao is his odd ability to move up weight classes and continue to win belt, albeit sometimes being helped along by catchweight handicaps and facing struggling fighters. I think if that kind of thing was something that Donaire was interested in, he could duplicate these efforts and dominate in the same manner if not more impressive. I think Donaire is a lot better fighter than Pacquiao can ever hope to be because he does it so effortlessly with his Julian Jackson like power.

Nonito is no doubt the more technical between the two,but doesn’t mean his better,Paq is not your conventional fighter,he may not fight by the book that’s why some trainers sees his flaws,but somehow couldn’t solve Manny’s puzzle,i guees its the combination of everything that makes him special,
I,agree Serg will beat Paq at 154 but at 147 Paq will beat him easily,at 147 i have to favor Folyd but very slightly.Paq has been amazing in his recent fight,i wouldn’t be suprise if Paq could pull an upset,i said upset coz i believe Paq will be the underdog coming to this fight coz of his size.

Pacquiao is far above Nonito’s class. Pacquiao also has a bigger heart. Nonito’s chin hasn’t been tested yet.

Heres a true Philipino Boxing star that is fighting boxers in there prime and in there ideal weight! He does not overdrain any fighters nor take advantage of the old! I really think Donaire will take out Pactard in less then 10 rounds!
Only history can tell who is better. We can not compare two competitors ubless they are in the same time frame and peak conditions and in the same ring.
Mayweather beat marquez in a boring fight where he came in over 10 lbs heavier, marquez was out of his weight class and mayweather didnt finish. Then he beats mosley and does no damage. Another waste of money, boring fight. Mayweather has the best philly shell defense in history. But he’s 95% defense 5% offense.pacman is all offense. I’d rather pay for the offense.

I think right now when you are comparing Pacquiao and Donaire is like this. I will buy all Pacquiao fights on PPV live but I am not ready to spend my $60 on Donaire if the fight is on PPV. I will watch the fight though on replay after a week in HBO. Pilipino in the USA are about 2.5 million and most are PPV buyers and they are not happy about Donaire moving to GBP. They hate GBP.

I have to agree with you. They need to start doing weigh ins on the day of the fight so the weight limit is legit. At the present time Donaire is looking great beating fighers such as Darchanian and Montiel.

So ur saying donair is better than pac? And by the way, catchweights make alot of fights possible. Without them there wouldnt be as many matchups because the fights would not be fair. U dont c pac using catchweights on smaller fighters and then come in 15 lbs heavier on fight night. They need to start doing weigh ins on the day of the fight so the weight limit is legit.

There is no doubt that Nonito’s career will soar to dizzying heights in the near future but there is and only will be one Manny in the boxing arena for the next hundred years!

Top Rank was not showcasing Nonito as much as their other fighters because they did not want Nonito to gain a following among Filipino fighters and take away money from Manny, Nonito was never given a spot on a Pac under card even though it woulda made the card better. Uncle BOb was gonna keep giving him small showcases until Manny exited which would be in about 2yrs and keep him @118 to further avoid stealing manny’s fans. Donaire has offensive and defensive skills. Manny Pacquiao never learned the art of defense.
Donaire will have a greater legacy and will be known as a more techically sound fighter.

Don’t you get it, trying to make a case for Pacquaio for beating Mayweather’s leftovers doesn’t mean anything. Had Mayweather fought Cotta, Margarita, and Clotty, he still would be undefeated today, so what’s the point. At the end of the day a win is just a win. You say Mayweather retired to avoid them, while others would say Pacquiao only fought them after they had been exposed as losers. I think they both had different reasons. Mayweather chose opponents who could generate better PPV numbers. That is exactly what Pacquiao is now doing by fighting Mosley. While Pacquaio is making all this money, better fighters are being avoided. Most Pacquiao fans will say that the boxers being avoided aren’t worthy of a fight with Pacquiao. The same could be said about Mayweather doing the same way when he was chose the money instead. Now the reason why did fight them is because he being lead by Arum on a mission to gain as many paper championships as possible. To accomplish that, all he had to do was to defeat the recycled group of losers from Arums stable. Arum’s plan all along was to present this false illusion of Pacquiao’s greatness so that he would appear to be on level with Mayweather. To do that, Arum manipulated his loser boys into accepting catch-weight fights to help Pacquiao achieve his acclaimed 8 titles. Sometimes referred to as paper championships. Now that the illusion has been faslely planted in the minds of some, notice Arum’s sudden shift in strategy. Now all of a sudden, it’s about which opponent that Pacquaio can make the most money. So of course, that would be Mosley. Wonder why that same Mosley was avoided by Arum when Pacquiao was racking up his paper championships. That wasn’t the case when he fought Margarita, Arum went to the end of the world to get a boxing license for him just to achieve another paper championship. Now if Mayweather had been on that same mission for paper championships, he wouls have walked right through Arum’s stable and got the same results as Pacquiao, three win. But of course we all know with Mayweather it’s not about the title its about the money. The same as what we are seeing from the new Pacquiao, no more titles, just money; because the illusion lives on.

I don’t even see a reason to fight a 108 pound fighter with three loses two draws and arguably should have 5 loses if you add the fights with Marquez and the fight with Nedal Hussein. The referee stopped Manny from getting KO’d by stopping the action to deduct a point. Donaire is a wayyyyyyyy better technical fighter than Manny could ever dream to be. I think Donaire don’t get as good advice on his carrer. Or just been influence by his wife. Its alright to move to GBP but you have to wait for another two months to finish his contract with TopRank. They said Arum is greedy but I think GBP is worst. NBA,NFL,MLB Teams don’t sign up players if you have a contract to another team. GBP lured Pacquiao and Donaire with big cash to sign up with them. (Is it illegal to pay Pacquiao $700,000 cash as signing bonus. How can uncle Sum tax that money?) It was returned though.
GBP got lucky the first time to get percentage to all Pacquiao fight. I don’t know about this time. You can’t do it twice. Its a bad precedent.

Donaire is a very good fighter, but will never achieve what Pacquiao did. Pacquiao is used to destruction and still ends up giving his best. He lets his business and career to the experts and take care all his children, family and women not to intervene to things they are not belong too. On the contrary Donaire can´t handle his career and personal family problem at the same time. He lets his “woman” dictates his future. You know there´s an old saying, “There Is always a Woman Behind Every Man Success and Failure”! Donaire should enjoy his blessings now, because by looking the way his career is going to, that “Failure” may come sooner than he planned.

Many fighters are better than Pacquiao. The problem is that Manny won’t face them until another fighter beats them up first or they are shot already. Sergio and Floyd would beat Pacquiao easy!
