Hopkins and Pascal involved in shoving match at press conference

By Chris Williams: At a press conference on Monday to announce their May 21st bout in Montreal, WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal and 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins got into a shoving match after Pascal demanded that Hopkins “Take the test” for performance enhancing drugs [PEDS]. Hopkins reacted angrily, shoving Pascal hard when the Canadian based fighter got to close to Hopkins while asking him to take the test.
Hopkins struggled to a 12 round draw after getting dropped twice. The fight was there to be won for Pascal but he failed to throw enough punches and made a tactical error by staying on the outside and looking to land only pot shots. Pascal needed to throw combinations to tire out and bet the aging 46-year-old Hopkins.
But instead Pascal let Hopkins get plenty of rest breaks by staying on the outside and only occasionally mixing it up with him. It was the perfect fight style for Hopkins to rest and stay in the fight. In a rematch, Pascal needs to outwork Hopkins and use his speed advantage to beat Hopkins the way that Jermain Taylor and Joe Calzaghe did.

both fighters fought the best they could.pascal will win the rematch too.
Hopkins with perhaps his last title shot, Gifted by the boxing commission, the rematch won,t provide any different outcome.But who knows what judges will be implamented.

Man I can’t stop laughing at that. Have you ever heard of receding hairline. Hopkins is in his late 40′s. I’m usually one for good ol conspiracy theories but this one is too much for even me.

The dude had a full head of hair, I attribute that to his pure juicing all his day. Hopkins aint playing with a full deck. I still wouldn’t trust him with your woman and no body tell me the dude doesn’t nip a little squeeze once in awhile.
i agree but to say things that u dont know to be true is not cool ,there should to a price to pay if thats find out to not be true because jeans looks like he beat women and touch kids to me see not cool talk what you know get my point ?
I think all fighters should be forced to take those tests. It’s not like we don’t know all the fighters who have been caught: Toney, Mosley, Holyfield, etc.

i want hopkins to take the test too just like manny i dont think neither of them are taking anything but its 2011…. you can never be sure, its good for the sport

46 is not as old as you pups might like to think. And when one has been good to themselves, such as HOPMAN, staying power is ther for most. Hopkins will knock pascal out when they meet again.
Promotion…promotion that’s it.
I wonder how it feels for those at Golden Boy to have to defend themselves against PED accusations without the accuser having any proof at all. They should consider this as they are getting taken to the bank with the Pacquiao defamation suit.
Pascal sounds like a desperate dude. He needs to face the facts that he did not do enough in the fight. He allowed BHop back in the fight. Pascal is fighting with the big boys now, a master boxer in BHop. Pascal cant do or say anything to throw BHop off his game plan. Lets all remember Pascal is the one that needs to see a sports psycologists during training camps.
Hopkins is an arrogant fool who makes boxers look thick.He has got a great record and still boxing which is amazing.I think he dulls fights makes good fighters look average but doesnt do much to make the fight exciting. Cant remember the last fight he had that thrilled me.

I bet when Hopkins is 3 weeks away from his bout he stops using his HGH. I’ve excercised since i was 12 and I’m 44 and your body dosn’t recover as fast i boxed 6 years but i always kept hitting the bag for excercise and sometimes I skip a few days cause I’m to sore This 46 and going 12 rounds and trainning all these hours at the gym than sparring at 46 is a bunch of hog wash. He’s on something and if your under 40 don’t respond cause you know nothing about being this age and excercising

AFTER HOPKINS LOST TO TAYLOR DID HE REALIZE IT WAS OVER UNLESS HE JUICES UP? IF THATS THE CASE WILL HE GO TO EXTREMES TO COVER IT UP RATHER THEN EXCEPT IT WAS OVER LONG AGO ????

I wonder what fight this author was watching. Even though Hopkins got knocked down twice, he wasn’t struggling at all in that fight. He was even the fresher of the two at the end of the fight.
I wonder where all the uproar is over Hopkins saying “No” to test saying he’d do only what the commission asks.
B hop is about to win almost every round …. Jean should have just been happy with draw . Fighting b hop two times is asking for it . B hop will have a plan and Jean will be fighting b hops fight . B hop will bait Jean into a chess match at which Jean is to green . You could see it in there last fight . Jean has the physical tools but lacks the mental tools . B hop will be cutting off the ring walking down jean while Jean will be fighting backwards never set and running maybe landing a few pop shots …… B hop by dis.
