Haye, 30, says he wants to fight two more times, either against Ruslan Chagaev or Alexander Povetkin for his next fight on May 21st and then one more time after that in September or October against hopefully IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

That is an impossible dream because Wladimir is scheduled to fight Tomasz Adamek in September, and that puts Wladimir out of commission for about the rest of the year. Haye doesn’t see interested in facing WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko unfortunately.

Haye had this to say in a Sky Sports interview “In an ideal world and if I could have my crystal ball and change people’s opinions and minds and get Wladimir’s people to do what I want them to do, it would be Wladimir in the summer and Vitali in September or October. That is an ideal world, but we don’t live in an ideal world. In a realistic world, I would fight a mandatory challenger, whether that be Chagaev or Povetkin, we are working on that at the moment. I can’t give you an answer at the moment as I don’t know myself. After that, there will be a fight in September or October against hopefully Wladmir. If he wants to do it, I am ready to do it. I have said that. Let’s get the fight on. That will be it, it will be knocking him out and taking his belts and then giving them back. There will be two more fights and that is it.”

As you can see, Haye fancies his chances against Wladimir but not Vitali because he fails to mention Vitali time after time. It seems that Haye’s style of fighting in close makes him feel confident that he could take out Wladimir but not Vitali. It’s too bad really because Haye’s not going to get a fight with Wladimir unless Haye decides to stick around a lot longer into next year. With that being not the case because of Haye’s firmness about retiring this year, he needs to take the next best thing and face Vitali. If he doesn’t want that fight, it tells you that Haye doesn’t like his chances against Vitali and only wants to fight Wladimir.
