Guerrero defeats Findley

By Jim Dower: Unbeaten middleweight contender Fernando Guerrero (21-0, 16 KO’s) easily defeated Derrick Findley (17-5, 11 KO’s) by a lopsided 10 round unanimous decision on Friday night to retain his NABF middleweight title at the Wicomico Civic Center, in Salisbury, Maryland.

The final judges’ scores were 99-91, 99-91 and 100-90. Guerrero, ranked #2 WBO, #6 WBC, and #8 WBA, dominated the short 5’6″ Findley with a strong jab and quick combinations ti win all the rounds and build up a huge lead. Findley, who came into the fight having lost his last bout against Matt Korobov last November, looked over-matched and discouraged by the second half of the fight. Guerrero needs to step it up against better fighters.

In other action, super middleweight Dominic Wade (10-0, 8 KO’s) defeated Grover Young (4-1, 2 KO’s) by a four round decision. The final judges scores were 40-36, 40-36 and 40-36.
