Gesta destroys Tranzancos

By Jim Dower: Undefeated lightweight contender Mercito Gesta (21-0-1, 11 KO’s) blew away Genaro Trazancos (22-14-1, 13 KO’s) on Friday night, stopping him in the 3rd round of a scheduled eight round bout at the Longshoreman Hall, in San Francisco, California. Gesta, 23, punished the 36-year-old Tranzancos with power shots and had him badly hurt in the 3rd. In between rounds, the fight was stopped by the ringside doctor.

In the opening round, Gesta jabbed and landed body shots against the constantly moving Tranzancos. Gesta landed hard combinations while Tranzancos was backed up against the ropes. Tranzancos tried his best to keep Gesta off with a jab. Gesta trapped Tranzancos against the ropes a couple of times in the round and really worked Tranzancos over.

In the 2nd round, Gesta hurt Tranzancos combinations to the head, and powerful left hands. Tranzancos tried to hold to keep Gesta from punching but it wasn’t working, as Gesta continued to work and land powerful uppercuts. Gesta stalked the over-matched Tranzancos all around the ring, landing huge shots at will. Gesta moved well and continues to punch.

In the 3rd, Tranzancos was really getting worked over in this round with hard straight shots to the head that has Tranzancos looking to escape to the ropes. Tranzancos on weak legs taking shots and trying to stick his arms to try and slow down the incoming. It was a brutal round.
