Dzinziruk vs. Martinez: Sergiy in a no pressure situation for possible upset
By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten WBO junior middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk (37-0, 23 KO’s) is the underdog going into his March 12th fight against Sergio Martinez (46-2-2, 25 KO’s) at the Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The 35-year-old Martinez, who is considered by many boxing fans and writers to be the best fighter in the middleweight division at this time, is considered the favorite in this match-up to capture the vacant WBC Diamond middleweight title, which has been thrown in for this fight by the World Boxing Council.
With few people really giving Dzinziruk much of a chance at beating Martinez, this takes a lot of the pressure off of Dzinziruk so that anything he does will be without the same kind of weight that it would be if he were to be coming into this fight expected to win. Dzinziruk can then go out and try and impress and win new fans in the U.S by boxing Martinez from the outside using his jab and looking to make him look bad. Dzinziruk has one of the best jabs in all of boxing and he’s going to be showing that in this fight. The question is whether that’s enough to beat a guy like Martinez. It might take more than just a superb jab to defeat Martinez because he’s smart, moves a lot and has excellent one-punch power.

Sergey not underdog. Western media say. Not true: Box like overcat. Ivan tell you: Bet on him. Ivan good connections, but rematch different. Keep secret advice of Ivan!
The Razor is forreal. He,will be a good challenger. One thing is for certain. Sergio fights all styles. Boxer, brawler, puncher. The writer says hes not that famous but Sergio is in everyones top 3 Pound 4 Pound. Sergio has a good trainer and they will have a great plan for Sergie.Should be a great fight.
This is gonna be a great fight, one of the best of the year. If Dzinziruk uses his jab smart he’ll win easy. But if Martinez can counter his jab there will be a knock out in favor of Martinez.
Martinez wins by 11th round KO!!!!!!

Martinez by 11th round KO!!!
This is one of those fights that we just don,t know what will transpire throughout the fight. We know if pavlik who has a bit more power than dzinzurik could knock martinez down with a staunch jab, well who knows?Just have to wait and see.
Remind me who of any note whatsoever Sergiy Dzinziruk has actually fought let alone beaten. Martinez is in a totally different class and Dzinziruk only has a belt because he’s fought no one good or that can punch as hard as Martinez. Its unlikely he’d beat either Pavlik or Williams let alone Martinez and my guess is he’ll be knocked out by round 8. Williams has an excellent trainer and has toured much of the US sparring with a huge number of people – your comment about him is ill educated.
I don’t think this will be an overly thrilling fight, but should be a good display of boxing skills.
Dzinziruk’s jab is effective because he controls distance extremely well. It looks difficult to really “get in on him” so to speak… he has that ability to step out just enough to be out of danger, but close enough to be able to land a stiff jab and slow the pace right back down again.
So regardless of what approach Martinez takes, I just can’t see fireworks going off in this bout. If Martinez plays counter-puncher, Dzinziruk will stick to his usual jab-in/jump-out game plan. If Martinez plays aggressor, then Dzinziruk will become a kind of “defensive jabber”.
I’m thinking it’ll end up being a close decision for whoever takes this.
The truth…. Whatever… Martinez hits harder and is much faster. If DZINIRUK can’t land his jab its all over for him.
DZINIRUK WILL SHOCK EVERBODY AND STOP MARTINEZ, HE IS TECNICALLY TOO SOUND, FAST AND YOUNG FOR MARTINEZ. WILLIAMS WAS JUMPING UP AND DOWN BETWEEN WEIGHTS, AND HE HAS A TRAINER WHO DOES´NT KNOW HOW TO TEACH A FIGHTER ABOUT SKILLS.
