Burgos defeats Archuleta, Chilemba decisions Vlasov

By Jim Dower: Featherweight contender Juan Carlos Burgos (26-1, 19 KO’s) easily defeated Frankie Archuleta (27-8-1, 14 KO’s) by a 2nd round TKO on Friday night at the Million Dollar Elm Casino, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The fight was a hopeless mismatch with Burgos wiping out Archuleta and knocking him down three times before the fight was finally halted by the referee at 2:33 of the 2nd.

In other action on the card, South African super middleweight Isaac Chilemba (16-1-1, 8 KO’s) defeated 24-year-old Russian Maxim Vlasov (19-1, 10 KO’s) by a 10 round unanimous decision. The final judges’ scores were 95-94, 96-92 and 96-92. Vlasov knocked Chilemba down two times in the 8th, but was unable finish him off and ended up losing the fight by a narrow decision.

I had just tuned into FNF for the main event as soon as I saw that Archuleta was fighting I said to myself, “He’s gonna get knocked out in three rounds at least!” When it was just two I said, “Aw ya bum! I was almost right!”
