The BBBofC resuses to sanction Fury-Botha bout, fight is off – Boxing News

By Sean McDaniel: Well it looks like unbeaten British heavyweight prospect Tyson Fury (13-0, 9 KO’s) is going to have to go back to the drawing board and look for another opponent to fight after the British Boxing Board of Control rejected his attempt to fight 42-year-old Francois Botha (47-5-3, 28 KO’s) on February 19th, refusing to sanction the fight. The fight was supposed to have taken place at the Wembley Arena, in London.
Fury needs to take on younger fighters and ones that can actually test him rather than an old fighter like Botha, who basically be nothing more than an old punching bag for Fury to tee off on. If Fury’s trainer Emanuel Steward wants to see improvement with his fighter, he needs to start putting Fury in with some bigger tests because he’s not going to do much by beating up on journeyman fighters or old relics with nothing left in the tank.

Strange decision by the board. But I suppose its for the best when the Klits are beating to a pulp second tier heavyweights every couple of months. Pac Man starves all his opponents half to death before he’ll go near them and Holyfield is allowed to stumble his way to Parkinsons by the authorities.
Fury may not be the complete article but he can throw every punch in the book and I had him winning this easily.
Maybe Tyson fury Vs Martin Rogan would be good
or Tyson Fury Vs Audley Harrison

This shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Why not put Fury in against a British heavyweight, who he could learn from like: Ali Adams, Sam Sexton, Carl Baker, Michael Sprott, or Dave Ferguson. The board is less likely to turn down a match between two Brits.
maybe if he fights Haye they will sanction it.
Wow, that’s a bit harsh on Botha. Yeah he gassed against Holyfield, but he was winning the fight 5 rounds to 2 up to the point. I hope Botha gets a good fight soon and shows everyone he’s no slouch.
