Should Haye be stripped by the WBA if he fights Mormeck?

By Allen Hmiel: Enough is enough. Has the WBA(not even sure what it stands for anymore) just given up and decided to let David Haye destroy any image the WBA might have left as a legitimate Boxing organization.
After currently reading that the esteemed Adam Booth, Haye’s manager/trainer extraordinaire has now contemplated giving the 38-year-old Jean Mormeck a shot at the Haye title instead of making a true match against the Klitschko’s (either one) I fell over sick to my stomach. Is there not a shred of integrity left in the WBA where someone has the authority to step up and say to Haye, “You have embarrassed us enough and the WBA is immediately dropping you as champion”. That act alone, my loyal fellow boxing fans would re-establish the WBA’s credibility and let them gain some needed legitimacy in the boxing world.
I thought the Audley (one punch in three rounds) Harrison fight was enough to put Haye on a probationary period before taking the much needed action of removing the title from Haye’s name. That and the childish embarrassing hide and seek game, David Haye has played publicly with the world’s legitimate heavyweight champion’s Vitali and Wladimir Klitschkos.
Imagine that Haye had the audacity to personally call out both of the Klitchkos and then run an optical illusion while in full view of the world’s fans and not fighting either one. The boxing world is doubling over in laughter while watching Haye’s comical reign as the clown prince of the WBA’s meaningless heavyweight belt. I think Haye’s reign as the WBA’s heavyweights champion is the funniest, degrading most self absorbing crock and bull story in boxing’s illustrious history.
Enough is enough! Haye and his followers few as they are, have destroyed any credibility the WBA (Won’t Box Anyone) Association might have had. The WBA’s website has no picture of Haye on it’s main page that can speak volumes itself. But the WBA’s vision statement actually says “With the purpose of maintaining its integrity”.
I just find this amazing that the oldest and used to be most respected Boxing Organization has let David Haye destroy, mock and tarnish the most esteemed title belt it can bestow on a professional fighter. Shame-Shame-Shame.

You question the punchers that Wladimir has fought. Lets see: Brewster, Peter, Tony Thompson could also bang, Rahman, Chagaev. This list could go on.
Now let’s get to Haye. Why has Haye not faced any of the top, younger, hard punching heavyweights to date?
I would like to see how Haye would do against Chagaev, Povetkin, Arreola, Dimitrenko, Boytsov, Peter etc. I doubt that Haye would fight anyone of these guys. I bet Adamek would also beat Haye. Haye needs to step it up or jhe might as well retire before Oct 2011.
What big punchers are these? Fast punchers? Cruserweight weakest division in boxing i think you’ll find that the heavyweight division is the weakest! Wladimir is a good fighter no doubt but he, Haye and Vitali are the champs of a heavyweight division that is full of out of shape bums, Haye wouldnt lose to Brewster, you seem to think Haye would just stand infront of him and go toe to toe, if you knew anything about Haye you’d know that isn’t his style he moves about alot and has good head movement making him difficult to hit, Brewster wouldn’t be able to land his big shots, Haye would catch him with a counter and it would be it!

Brewster beat Haye? Dont make me laugh with losses to fighters like Etienne, Shufford and Oloukun, and Haye does fight punchers, i know Fraudley isn’t a good example but Fraudley has a massive left hand, when he fought Maccarinelli he had 28 wins and 21 by ko, when Haye fought Mormeck in the cruiserweight he had a decient ko ratio, Valuev 7foot 22 stone if he put all his weight behind a punch he could cause some serious damage!!!! And i’d love to see all the big punchers Wladimir’s faced !!!!

brewster was an old score to seatle avenging a past defeat.plus brewster was a decent fighter he wud have takin hayes head off..which i know ur going to say no he wudnt but im afraid he wud have hit harder than haye and had a decent chin…haye wud have had a slug match with him and lost it because of his own weakish chin.also ive no doubt in my mind haye wudnt have ever fought him hes to big a puncher and we all know haye dosnt fight punchers

@ ilovekos: Wlad fought Auston a few years ago when he was the number one contender and undefeated.Wlad fought Rahman because the fighter Wlad was supose to fight pulled out and Rahman was the only top ten ranked fighter that was avaible on short notice.Peters I give you,he was named Wlads mandatory but I think he should have fought against a top ten guy to earn that spot.
I am a big Haye fan but i agree that if he fights Mormeck his title should be stripped, but i also think Wladimir is just as bad!!! his last fight was against S.Peter who lost to Chambers then fought 4 nobodies and suddenly got another title shot, he also fought Austin, Rahman and is now fighting Chisora !!!!!!!

adamek would be a slippery fight for haye. he is fast. he has never been knocked out. he has held belts in cruiser and light heavy weight. actually, it would be an interesting fight. I don’t know if adamek has enough punch to hurt Wlad. he is fast enough to give haye a definite run for his money.

Haye’s got to fight one of the klitschko’s.. I’m a Haye fan and I’m getting fed up now. I beleive he can beat the Kbros, but to cement his legacy he must do that. otherwise his heavyweight careers has been average. Cruserweight was brilliant..but heavyweight..average..

After that fight haye egrees to fight a klitschko then wlad agrees to fight chisora and claims he doesnt need an eight week training camp to fight haye yet he needs a ten week camp to face chisora that makes me chuckle ..I agree that haye needs to fight those people to say hes better but being realistic and obvious they arnt realy much to beat and why should he hes the champion after all and has taken his manditory challengers all he wants to do is fight the other champions and retire why build a 50- plus record of bums when you can fight the next best 2 out there make ton of money and retire .!!

Hecv will not even get in the ring with a top ten heavy weight.And please do not call Valuev a great heavy weight,(Valuev wouldn’t fight a Klitschko and king never put him a hard puncher or anyone fast and the one half way decent fight Valuev fought he lost towitch was Chagaev)Ruiz was not even rank in ring magizine top ten (in fact only the WBA had him ranked in the top ten and no one knows how come they had him ranked that high.so If HAYE WILL NOT EVEN FIGHT THOSE GUYS YOU MENTION YOU CANNOT JUST SAY HE WOULD BEAT THEM.you need to fighter to beat,not just claim he ca beat them wirthout getting in the ring.

vitalys last ten fights since shot lewis… kirk johnson,corrie sanders,danny williams,samuel peter,juan carlos gomes,chris areola,kevin johnson,albert sosnowski,shannon briggs…Wlads last ten…chris byrd,calvin brook,ray austin,lamon brewster,sultan ibragimov,tony thompson,hasim rahman,ruslan chagaev,eddie chambers,samuel peter then derek chisora..Strip the Klitschko’s aswell in that case..to be fair haye beats anyone on thier resume with relative ease and likewise klitschko’s beat hayes resume with relative ease the fact is haye wants to fight them and they dont really fancy it. hayes been undisputed cruiserweight champion moved to heavyweight become a world champion hes done more in 25 fights then either Klitschko do some homework before your next artical..the Klitschko’s should be honored to fight haye !!!!!

How can you guys say that Haye is bad for boxing. He has made me a fight fan. His fights are exciting, he knocks people out and goes for it. Who else is dismantling people and making it look as good as Haye does? No-one. Sure the challengers haven’t been top notch, but give props to the guy, he is coming up from cruiserweight and fighting guys much bigger than him (he clearly doesn’t need to grow a pair). We all agree that these games suck and we all just want to see Haye fight the Klit brothers. Until they do fight everyone should stop dissing them both and prey they work it out so we can see who the man is.
Regardless of what anybody says the heavyweight divison is a lot more entertaining because of David Haye. Imagine if he was not there- who would entertain us, the klitkos? He lost a few minutes fighting Harrison. He unified the cruiser weight belts and now owns a heavyweight belt. He accomplishes everything he sets out to do. I hope Solis and Chisora win, and get these lame Ukranians out of there. Chisora is ranked higher than Ruiz, Barrett, and Harrison were when Haye fought them. He is also ranked higher than Mormeck. (?)
By the way, Don King insisted on getting options on either k brother if they fought Valuev. And to say they didnt try to make the fight is plain stupid, they did. But refused to be owned by Don King just to get another belt. Besides Vladimir beat the true owner of the belt—Chagaev, who beat Valuev to get it and never lost it in the ring. Vitali was off for years and his first fight back fought the 3rd rated heavyweight in the world. He fought 3 ranked fighters than year. Vlad signed to fight Haye (who backed out) ranking at time 4. Then he fought Chagaev, ranked 3 at the time. Then he fought Eddie Chambers, ranked 4 at the time. Then he signed to fight Povetkin, then ranked 4 at the time. He backed out and he fought Samuel Peter, the man who knocked him down 3 times. LAter this year he is signed to fight Adamek, ranked 4 in the world. He has 1 stay busy fight. This is how a man behaves. A child behaves by fighting Valuev, ranked number 8, then fighting a string of old, unranked fighters…he is supposed to fight Vladimir, ducks out (doesnt like his fight schedule), he is supposed to fight, Chageav, ducks him (refuses to fight overseas), the next available is Povetkin (flat out refuses to fight him), and is now planning to fight a soon to be 39 year old cruiserweight who has won 2 questionable decisions against B level fighters at heavyweight.
Vitali’s last 10 fights, 8 of the 10 were ranked in the top 10. 1 was ranked in the top 20. Vladimirs last 10 fights, 7 were ranked in the top 10, 4 were ranked in the top 5. The other 3 guys he fought…Peter, Rahman, and Brewster, were fights to take care of old business. And they were all big punchers. All were ranked in the top 20. Now lets get to Haye. He has fought 5 heavies. 1 was ranked in the top 10–barely. None of the rest were even ranked in the top 20. None of them were big punchers. Soon it will be 6 unranked fighters, 1 ranked. How does this compare?

Klitschkos have been fighting bums for the past decade. They refuse to fight each other and they never attempted to unify the titles when Valuev was champion.

You live in an upside down world. You like Haye because he struggles against old, unranked fighters like Ruiz. You hate Vladimir because he easily beats young, ranked fighters. You start out with the assumption Haye is great. Therefore if he beats Ruiz and looks sloppy and dirty doing it, its because Ruiz is also great. Even though Ruiz was 2-2 in his last 4 fights–winning only against third tier fighters. Valuev was great, even though he has only fought 3 ranked fighters in his life and lost to 2. The one he beat: you guessed it, Ruiz. And anybody Vladimir beats is a bum, because hes no good. Even though most of them were highly ranked, and a few, like Byrd, dominated their era. Vladimir was the first and only man to legitimately knock out Ray Mercer. And even though Ray Mercer arguably beat Lewis and Lewis couldnt hurt him—hes still a bum in this upside down world. As are all the undefeated fighters Vladimir has beaten. Well, you cant argue with stupidity, so good luck and keep funneling your cash to the David Haye carnival show.
The only fight of Hayes I thought was exciting at heavyweight was the Ruiz fight. I picked Haye to win easily and was surprised how sloppy and ragged he looked against a fighter who has been washed up for years. The fight was exciting because it was dirty, desperate and strangely Haye couldnt put him away without resorting to a lot of cheap shots.
Haye is a personlity. A fake Ali. he looks like, sounds like (without the wit) Ali, even has a good physique. But he has many flaws as a fighter. So they let him fight old men…old men who cant punch…..and they rake in the cash. The average ranking of the guys Haye has fought in the heavies is around 24th in the world…just do the math. Their average knock out ratio is below 50 percent. And their age averages out to close to 38 yrs. If you dont see a pattern you are an idiot.

And the proof is all the weak fighters Haye dredges up when he is not pretending to sign a K brother. he just ducked Chagaev rather than fight him overseas, but is willing to fight a weaker fighter overseas–Mormeck. Haye gave wlad a choice, him or chisora. Wlad chose chisora. I don’t think that constitutes “ducking” a fight. Both probably have their reasons for not wanting to fight the other. If either of them really wanted it, it would be happening. Wlad could have made it happen as easily as haye could. Both deserve blame. Vitali just seems to not care, I expect if he gets approached he would take it, but he’s happy doing his own thing and won’t rise to the bait.

I think haye and Andre Berto should be stripped for not fighting ranked fighters in their divison. They’re turning this sport into a Mockery. MMA has tooken over as to what a real fighter is. people like Berto and haye make boxing look like WWE

@ andrew, you definately have not been paying atention ,and only reading Boothes press releases.The agreed 50-50 split of the purse with no rematch claus was originally Wlads ofer,Boothe just tried to spin it to make look like it was thier offer(of course everyone who followed the nogatiations closesly knew that was not the case) and it was Haye who said no to the july 2nd fight.Giving lame excuses like “NOWAY CAN WLAD BE READY TO FIGHT ME IN 9 WEEKS” and himself stated”if he(wlad) fights Chisora in april I(Haye) will not fight him on july 2nd(this was a really lame reason to pull out of the fight )And the hep-B excuse is just that.one vacine and you cannot get it.simple fix.And picking Mormek as an opoponent is just plain lame .

In the uk if you fought knowing you had hep there’s a reasonable chance you’d face criminal charges and may even end up in jail for a bit.

David Haye’s mandatory challenger is Chagaev. Chagaev is unavailable due to illness, so work it out. David Haye cannot fight his mandatory challenger and it is up to the WBA to either replace Chagaev as the mandatory challenger which they have decided not to do.. Haye’s camp removed every single obstacle blocking the Klitschko fight and then set a date only for Wladamir to refuse the offer and sign to fight Chisora 2 months before what would have been the biggest fight in heavyweight history for some years. Haye needs a fight soon and there really isnt all that many options out there. This forum is full of part time boxing fans. Get off the forums and know your sport and all the unfortunate politics that go with it. Its a frustrating situation but get all this Haye bashing is embaressing.
The number one challenger has hepatitis – he’s not allowed to fight in the UK and its only your dull country that allows people to fight with that stuff – its not like its much different from HIV. Most people who get it still die from something related to it. Like when Tommy Morrison fought Lewis just before being diagnosed HIV+. The WBA shouldn’t even allow Chaegrev to fight until he’s been given the all clear – if you’re talking about gaining respect for an organisation lets start there. What sort of an organisation allows anyone to be a number one challenger in a sport when he has a communicable, serious virus that is transferred by blood contact?
contenders are running from the klitschkos its hard for them to get fight. but nobody running from david haye. the line would be long for guys wanting to get a shot from him.far better chooses then mormeck.
