Matthysse looks better than Khan
By Dan Ambrose: After watching Argentinian light welterweight knockout artist Lucas Matthysse (28-1, 26 KO’s) easily dispatch the hard-hitting DeMarcus Corley (37-16-1, 22 KO’s) in an 8th round TKO in Argentina, I have no doubts in my mind that Matthysse is more than good enough to beat WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan. Matthysse looks like a better version of Marcos Maidana, with better defense and a better inside game than Maidana.
Corley simply couldn’t handle Matthysse’s body shots and he began to feel the effects in the 5th, when Matthysse put Corley down twice. Matthysse added two more knockdowns in the 6th, and three more in the 7th with body shots and right hands to the head. Matthysse showed that he was far too powerful for Corley on the inside and looked sensational in getting the win. I don’t expect Khan to face Matthysse, but if and when does, I see Khan getting knocked out. Matthysse is for real and looks incredible when he’s throwing to the body. This is the same kind of body punching that Matthysse did in his fight with Zab Judah last year, except that Matthysse lost by a home town decision to Judah.
There’s no shame in Matthysse being better than Khan, because I think Matthysse also looks better than Maidana. This guy is much more versatile than Maidana and Khan, and is able to fight on the outside or the inside with his speed and power.

i dont agree in any shape, form or fashion….i made a lot of money on khans last fight and im sticking with him.
Getting fooled with performances against Corley, please be serious. They wrote off Maidana because of his poor performance against Corley(almost got Khan out), and now Matthysse is better than both Khan and Maidana for beating Corley, the difference is that Maidana was just taking the fight as a tune-up to the fight with Khan, he didn’t trained like he usually trains and he almost falls short to a fight with Khan, Matthysse took the fight as a statement to those 140# fighters that are above him, but specially to Judah(not because he is above of him) for the rematch that he is looking for. I know Khan beats Matthysse, and Maidana may beat him too, but I’m not that sure on Maidana so if it happens then I’ll analize it more.
…you know she does!!
please chop chop corley.
Khan has already destroyed one argentinian. Lets not embarres the other
Matthysse looks tougher than Khan but not better. He does have the power to finish off Kahn but so did his last opponent. Matthysse looks a little too open up the middle he may be the one getting his chin tested early. First step would be a rematch or an attempt at one against Judda. That fight should be made to happen.
Match him with Bradley after he beats Alexander in a Brother bore feast
Khan will not be anything and thers arginteens will whai hi ass
Let’s see Mathysse fight and beat Maidana, and maybe one of Mabuza, Ortiz, McLoskey and Peterson, and then he’d be well set for a fight with Khan in the later part of this year.
Khan deserves his No.2 status and his probable shot at the Ring title against Bradley/Alexander, but the contenders deserve their shots when the time comes. I like both guys, and would be keen to see them after Khan completes the unofficial light welter round robin with the winner of Bradley and Alexander.
