Cotto-Mayorga: Will Ricardo destroy Arum’s #2 cash cow?

By Dan Ambrose: Bob Arum was thinking he would get a fighter with a name to draw fans for the March 12th fight of his number #2 cash cow WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28 KO’s). Former two division world champion Richard Mayorga (29-7-1, 23 KO’s), now 37, was spotted and the thinking was that he would help draw the casual boxing fan to help make the March 12th PPV card a success in getting PPV buys.
Mayorga may be 37, but he’s a fresh 37 because he’s only fought once in the past three years. Mayorga hasn’t taken a lot of punishment during his career and has always spread his fights out over time instead of taking one hard fight after another the way that Cotto has done. Mayorga gave Shane Mosley pure hell in 2008, and I had Mayorga ahead at the time that Cotto stopped him in the 12th round.
But can you imagine what Arum will be thinking if Mayorga takes out Cotto and ruins his grand plans of putting him in with Margarito in the Summer. I guess Arum will go ahead and match Cotto with Margarito anyway even if Mayorga rips him apart, but fans won’t be interested in seeing the fight if Mayorga whips Cotto and leaves him a bloody and battered mess on the canvas.

Mayorga wins ….unless he does’t come to fight
To the idiot below me Miguel cotto is the 3rd cash cow in boxing after Floyd and Manny pacquiao Miguel is not has never been a quitter he lost to a cheat and a possible juicer and or the p4p king weigh drained and dehydrated and with no trainer and still managed to win rounds Miguel will destroy mayorga and Margarito possibly beat Sergio and rematch pacquiao in a more competitive fight Miguel will silence the critics believe it
The problem is… Cotto is not a cash cow… He will not even break 500,000 ppvs… Nobody wants to pay 60 bucks to,watch a quitter.. Especially after he gets tagged….
I don’t see what Mayorga have to beat Cotto. I think Cotto will win this fight and the third man in the ring will stop the fight because of the many solids punches the will get from Cotto. Miguel will be boxing him with better foot works and 100% full of confidance. Mayorga’s boxing skills never has being one of the best in boxing, he’s fighting for the money and that’s it. If you want to see another boxer saying NO MAS! like Roberto Duran…….! don’t miss this fight.
Cotto is hungry he will destroy mayorga and go on to whip Margarito what is this writer saying he clearly needs to be update on his boxing

Does he reread what he writes?? Does he know what a run-on sentence is? His writing is actually worse than his knowledge of boxing.. And that actually shocks me given that he is predicting a old drug addict smoking loser who never trains can actually beat a three time world champ.
Miguel by KO before the 10th if he boxes Mayorga in the first few rounds and not lost his cool.
Another fight for cotto to get used to 154, and his style more like margo than foreman.
This is just a sensible stay busy fight. Nout wrong with that
