Pastor Ralph Farrait passes, longtime NYC trainer, wake this Thursday in the Bronx
New York City, New York (December 8, 2010) Pastor Ralph Farrait passed away this past Friday, December 3rd at the age of 59. A longtime boxing trainer, Farrait is best known in the boxing world for guiding contender Giovanni Lorenzo over the last eight years, taking him from a raw puncher to a world ranked two time world title challenger.
Loved in his community, Pastor Ralph lived with a unique passion, devoting his entire life to helping others. Boxing was his life, spending much of his time working with fighters and troubled youth. He and his wife of forty one years, Pastor Christine Farrait, set up a church in the South Bronx, specifically to work with troubled youths.
He was an honest, decent caring man who never asked for anything in return; just the smile on your face was all he needed to feel good about himself.
In a sad irony to the Pastor’s death, the day he passed his home was burglarized, the loss including his life savings which has created an additional burden to the family as they prepare funeral arrangements.
Therefore the boxing community is being asked to assist with donations to defray the cost of the funeral. Donations can be sent to Marc Farrait, 306 Moshulu Parkway South, Apt. 5D, Bronx, New York, 10458.
The wake for Pastor Ralph will be held this Thursday, December 9th at the Ortiz Funeral Home, 2121 Westchester Ave., Bronx, NY 10462, phone 718-931-1500. Hours are from 2 to 9pm.
Along with his wife and son Marc, the Pastor is survived by another son, Ray, a third son, Alex, having passed away three years ago.
