Did Pacquiao let down his fans by choosing Mosley?

By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao had the chance to pick among three opponents – two of them I would consider worthy and the third a real poor choice. So of the three fighters who does Pacquiao choose? He picks the poor one in 39-yer-old Shane Mosley.
You know you’re a huge Pacquiao fan when you’re looking at his fight selections based on how much money he can make rather than from a fan’s perspective, who just wants to get the most for the huge amount of money that fans have to pay to see Pacquiao’s fights on pay-per-view outside of the Philippines.
I think Pacquiao has really let down his fans by choosing Mosley, because I can’t see him performing well and this is very likely going to be a dull one-sided mismatch with Pacquiao reducing the nearly 40-year-old Mosley to a lump of flesh on the canvas. After beating two other poor picks in his last two fights, why isn’t Pacquiao finally getting a good opponent to entertain fans with?
Is he on cruise control for the rest of his career from this point on destined to face one lesser fighter after another? I think Antonio Margarito would have been a great choice two years ago when Margarito was still packing a big punch and was fighting at the top of his game, but by the time Pacquiao fought him, Margarito wasn’t the same fighter.
Clottey was never a good pick to begin with and I saw that as just giving fans a bad fight for their money. Oh, I’m sure Pacquiao’s lovesick fans loved the Clottey anyway, but I don’t see how they could. It was a one-sided beating against a fighter that appeared to be just hanging out in a sparring session and just looking to survive to the final bell.

Marquez went to the Philippines and challenged Pac, money did not matter then, now he wanted a bigger split. what a loser and Berto, has he fought any known fighters yet to deserve Pac? I don’t think so. Why not just have a poke-a-security-guard on the face, I think that’ll be more exciting…

To Nuthing but the truth. You realy are a Pacqiuao nutt hugger. Who cares about the millions the cars the houses. This is Boxing we are talking about not the life styles of the rich and famous. We are boxing fans not fans of money and greed. All we want is to watch a good boxing match. We all know they are hard to come by so when we see the oportunity for a good boxing match to happen (Pacqiuao VS Marquez) and we dont get it then it upsets us. We are not happy with just seeing one guy fight meaningless fight after another just because we like to look at the guy w, we actualy like to see competition. For all of you Pactards out there, Bob Arum said that he was going to sit down with Manny on his b-day and give him the list of fighters and let Manny pick, and that list was Berto, Marquez and Mosley. Manny picked over-the-hill, past-his-primer Mosley. All you Pac idiots were talking about Mosley being past his prime when Floyd Jr. faught him, said it was an easy cherry pick for Floyd. Now that Manny picks Mosley, who is more past his prime now than when Floyd faught him, now you’ve got nothing but praise for the Manny/Mosley pick.

Some of you are a joke!! A lot of you were complaining when Floyd beat an “old” Mosley..saying he fought a 38 year old instead of someone in their prime. Now all of a sudden Shane is a good option for Pac? You same people said that Shane has stamina issues which is why he got shut out after the 2nd round..and Floyd isn’t a busy fighter. So how is Mosley going to do against a guy who is non stop?? Then some of you go on about how Berto doesn’t have a name for himeself YET he is the WBC Champion. Who was Clottey?? He didn’t have a belt, no casual boxing fans knew who he was and he had a new trainer..just like Manny’s last few opponents. Margarito and his trainer worked together in one other fight. Clottey was running around trying to find his trainer since his couldnt get a VISA and Cotto was working with someone he had never worked with before. Does anyone see a pattern here?

Based on Chris’s and Dave’s dislike of Pacquiao and Donaire, both Filipino pugilists, I’d say anything you read from them with regards to either fighter, take with a grain of dirt.
Never feel like you have to defend your appreciation for an athlete, it is your right and what defines you as an individual. In the Holiday spirit, just respect any opposing views and try not to stoop to the nonsense.

No matter who Pacquiao will fight, one thing for certain there will never be a dull moment in the ring ’cause Pacquiao knows how to walk his opponent inorder to put up a good exchange of their handiworks in order to create a fight worth watching.

You should be grateful that Pacman picked Mosley. Manny is just supporting BUY AMERICAN, it.is so sad coz there is another American ou there who chooses to be silent. On the other hand, I’m still thankful that Pacquiao continues to fight…we are still seeing exciting fight. Styles make fights. It is guaranteed that this will not be a boring fight.
There’s NO FLOYD, so Mosley is the sub. We fans of Manny gave that nod of approval. We will just imagine that Manny is Fighting Floyd. We can’t ask for more, and we are happy.

Manny vs. Anyone = An exciting fight. Were there a few better options out there? Maybe, but one has gone silent, another wanted too much money, and the third wasn’t worth enough.
You guys can figure out who is who, but Shane and Manny could be fireworks based on their styles, but I still worry about Mosley’s stamina based on his last two fights.

Don’t buy the ppv fight if you don’t think it’s worth it. Plain and simple. But guess what, I guarantee the writer will buy this ppv fight. Just in case you forgot, mayweather is team PACs first choice. Since he’s not available, Mosley is the most logical choice. If Berto can draw more ppv buys then Mosley, then you can bet Berto he would have been chosen.

If you don’t like what the matchup Manny is set up with, just don’t watch it, don’t buy the PPV. Nobody is forcing you to watch it. There are many loyal Manny fans want to pay for it, as of matter of fact, millions of them. Manny doesn’t need your money. I don’t like Chinese food, but I don’t go out and say bad thing about Chinese food. I just don’t buy and eat it. But I do accept the fact that others people like it. I know most of you (99.99%) hate Manny just because of one thing and one thing only: JEOLOUSY. He is very successful now, he makes millions, has beautiful wife and 4 beautiful kids, is famous not just in his home country, but all over the world. He owns a couple mansions, a jet plane, sizeable land, few houses, commercial buildings, etc. He is going to make may be more than 100 million from boxings and advertisements money before he retires. There are many undefeated fighters in their records, but there is only one fighter who has 8 titles in 8 different weight divisions, and it is Manny. If you don’t like it, why don’t you just leave him alone? His name will not go away. His success story will be told by many generations to come. His KO punch against Ricky will be shown again and again. And the bad thing is, nothing you can do about it. It will make your blood pressure go up every time you see or hear his name. So, for your health’s sake, live your own life and accept it. I really feel pity for you guys. Just because he has different skin color than yours, you just have to hate this guy just because of that.
