Why should Manny Pacquiao consider fighting Juan Manuel Marquez again?

By Samuel K Chatwin: I have noticed a fair few comments of late; boxing fans wishing to see the pound for pound champion face a third fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. I really do not see the appeal. Surely we want Pacquiao to be facing, bigger tougher opponents rather than dropping down to lightweight for the first time in over 2 years.
For me if Pacquiao cannot get a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jnr, then he should move onto his other life being a congressman. He has no one left to fight. Sergio Martinez has had a cracking year and is a great boxer, but realistically he is too big and it would be wrong for him to drop down to 150 pounds for a fight with Pacquiao. As a fan of both fighters, I would not want to see this fight if it meant Martinez massively compromising his natural weight. If Pacquiao is willing to fight Martinez at 154 then so be it. He’s a brave man to do so. But with all that speed and talent you never know.

I’ve wanted a Pacquiao-Marquez III, just to shut up the whiners.
But after all these demands that Pacquiao has to drop the weight? ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! Where were the complaints when Floyd fought Marquez??? Pacaquiao is the man!!! He dictates.
Pacquiao has never ever weighed in at 147 for a fight. If he wants to not worry about dieting and wants the weight limit to be at 147, so be it. He is the CHAMPION AND THE DRAW. If Marques doesn not want to weigh in heavy, HE DOESN’T HAVE TO!!! Pacquiao weighed 144, 6 lbs under the limit against Margarito.
I’m tired of all these Marquez sympathizers.
I want to see a real challenge.

Marquez is Pacs kriptonite! Marquez got a draw the first time they fought wich was fair judging to me but on the rematch it was one of the biggist robbery’s of all time and Roach and Pac knew it! Why did it take so long for a third match after the huge controversy? Pac was waiting to see signs of Marquez slowing down before considering a third fight with Marquez! A real man would of done an immediate rematch just like Mayweather did vs Castillo on there rematch after a controversy fight! besides pactards all true boxing fans know Marquez won the rematch!

Marquez should stop talking of fighting Pacquiao. He still has to defeat Katsidis. I think Katsidis has a chance to win the fight. Look what happen to the slick African American boxer Paul Williams. He’s already talking that he will fight Pacquiao. He just got knocked out in 2 rounds. That’s what you defined for a slick African American boxer. lol

Marquez-Pac 3 will be a joke. Pac-Berto, Pacquiao-winner of Bradley/Alexander will be the fight. Marquez is a great fighter but a sore loser. I agree to the sentiment below, a decision was made and the judges has Pacquiao on split decision. Get over it or you will be called whiners.

Lets see if Marquez gets past Katsidas first. Im expecting a grueling fight. If Marquez does win he deserves a fight, but on Mannys terms.
Roach said that if JMM wants to fight Pacquiao it should be at welterweight. JMM wants the fight badly so he will agree to that weight. Problem is JMM has slowed down with age and going up in weight makes him sluggish. If the fight is expected to generate much money then it would be good for the pockets of both boxers. However, it could be very bad for the health of JMM as I predict that he will be badly beaten this time.
On their 1st fight, one of the judges scored 10-8 in the first round instead of 10-7 because of 3 KOed and after 1 month the judge admits he’s mistake.
Easy fight for Pacquiao. Marquez will be like fighting for his life. He’s no longer a worthy opponent for Pac but you can say he deserves a third fight. This should go three rounds max ending in a KO.
I’m with you all the way…The camp of Marquez simply wants the money that at this point only Manny can bring to the table..Realistically, it will no longer be a good match-up even at 140lbs where can comfortably make. Not so much with the weight but with Manny’s improvement as a fighter and Marquez’s showing his age…Manny gains nothing in return. Yes the previous matches were close only because Manny has to go down to 130lbs from his natural weight of 140+ lbs. Now that they figured out where he is best, I don’t think it will be competitive if that 3rd fight will happen…Sorry, but Marquez is at his best at Super Featherweight. He will not even last long in the lightweight division.. Surely when he conquers the light welterweight, by then he will a 3rd chance…Start with whoever wins between Amir and Maidana…forget about Bradley or Alexander or Andre Berto…But you might want Ortiz..That will be easy to make because both of you are Golden Boy fighters!

All you Pacquiao fans wanna see is Pacquiao destroy someone,so you have more ammo to throw around.The thoght of a fight with Marquez scares you all,because the 2 other fights.1st fight Manny did win but it was close,2nd fight was even closer but I thought Marquez won by a very very very very small margin.I also think Manny was more popular than Marquez at the 2nd fight,maybe i’m wrong but I thought he was.
Pac floored Marquez 3 times in the first fight. Pac won it but because Marquez was the more popular at the time the judges called it a draw.

Why fight at the same weight level that Pacquiao v. Marquez were fighting 3 years ago when all Marquez fans do is complain and be whiney biatches on the results of the fight? It makes more sense to me to go forward and fight in a weight division more than 144 lbs because these fighters never fought each other in this weight division. I reiterate that both fighters NEVER fought each other at this weight. Make sense to me. So stop whining Marquez fans.

Marquez is the genius who turned down $500,000 after the first Pacquiao fight so that he could fight Chris John in Indonesia for $30,000. Marquez is also the same genius who could have gotten a fight with Pacquiao earlier this year after the first negotiations with Mayweather failed, but he allowed his promoter to demand a 50-50 split, a weight demand and blood tests!!!! LOL.l Any fight with Pacquiao will have to be on Pacquiao’s terms – weight, guaranteed purse, time and place. Marquez has no leverage at all especially after the way he has been very vocal about it!!!!

Pacquiao should fight Marquez on May 2011 and Beto on June 2011 if Mayweather still wants to hide. Marquez would be an easy fight. He can’t hurt Pacquiao this time. It would be a very short fight. Maybe quicker than the Hatton fight. lol

I am sick of people bringing up PED’s. Floyd must be on the same juice then because they both started their careers around the same weight. Only difference one was fighting Golden Gloves and the other was a very young pro. I understand the frustration of the fans who dont like Manny and have to watch him be the face of boxing. But thats not reason to be a hater and start making allegations with no evidence at all. Whats the excuse gonna be if Floyd ever gets the balls to sign a contract and loses the fight?

When Floyd Mayweather was number P4P 2 years ago you will never hear people accuse him of anything. Unfortunately for the little Filipino it’s a little different.
It must be terrible being number one. If Pac fights Mosley , haters he is fighting Mayweathers old left overs and is running from JMM. If he fights JMM ,then he is dodging african american fighters like Berto , Alexander ,Mosley ,and isfighting small old light wieghts. If beats a guy like Margerito he is fightingslow plodders. I believe I know the reason why Pacquiao won’t fight JMM again. Remember that Pacquiao invited JMM to be his guest in the Philippines. I know how hospitable Filipinos are because I am one. JMM was treated with the best Pacquiao could offer –full of respect and honor. In return, Marquez, in front of everybody and media told Pacquiao in his face that he won the fights and demanded a rematch. He might be right ( I personally believe the first was Pacquiao’s while the second was a draw, if not Marquez’).But that was not the right time and venue. Because of that Pacquiao will never give him the chance to make millions from another fight with him.
The more Marquez opens his mouth about Pacquiao being afraid of him, the more he’ll never get a rematch.
If I were Marquez, I will pay Pacquiao a visit (on his bday), Bring with him any Mexican food that he or his wife cooked, praise Manny for his magnificient performance against Margarito. On his way back to Mexico, before he leaves, whisper this words-” Manny, Please give me a rematch” He will have a very very good chance of getting a rematch.
Juan Marquez is a legend in his time but he’ll never compete at the same level with Pacquiao at welterweight as he did at featherweight. Pacquiao is obviously a welterweight and not a lightweight or featherweight anymore. He is neither a middleweight so a future Marquez or Martinez bout is really a joke. Pac’s winning that 8th title is bs and he should just stay at welterweight where he can fight either Berto, Bradley, Alexander and maybe Floyd once he figure out what he really wanted to do with his miserable, trouble-plagued life.
