Weights: Abraham 168 lbs, Froch 167.1

By Jim Dower: (Photo Casino / Showtime:) At today’s weigh-in for Saturday’s Super Six tournament bout between former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) and Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s), Froch, 33, weighed in at 167.1 pounds for his clash against Abraham at the Hartwall Arena, in Helsinki, Finland. For his part, Abraham came in right at the super middleweight limit at 168 pounds. Both fighters are coming off of losses and neither looked good in defeat. Abraham is the betting favorite and Froch is hinting at retirement if he loses the fight.

This is one of those rare fights where Froch isn’t the bigger puncher. Actually, far from it in this case. Abraham is a monstrous puncher as he’s shown in his last two Super Six fights against Jermain Taylor and Andre Dirrell, putting both of them in the hospital as a result of right hand shots. Froch is going to be tested in this fight and his chin is going to have to be just as good as it’s been in the past if he wants to end the fight on his feet in a still standing position.
