Who would we like to see Pacquiao fight in his final 3 fights?

By Daniel Tagg: There are plenty of fighters who could get the chance, good fighters who have not yet become house hold names. Fighters like Andre Berto, Marcos Maidana and Timothy Bradley are hovering around getting great fights but haven’t quite made it yet. Then you have fighters who are world class and have earned being called that, yet they aren’t great fighters, well not yet anyway. Fighters like Kermit Cintron, Sergio Martinez and Paul Williams. These would be hard fights for Pacquiao considering that they fight at a higher weight than him and for Pacquiao to get to that weight he would loose his biggest attributes as a fighter.

Then come the legendary fighters who have achieved all their is to achieve in boxing and will be very tough opponents. Juan Manuel Marquez is a great fighter but not at welter weight, which will probably be Pacquiao’s last weight he’ll be fighting at. Then we have “Sugar” Shane Mosley, who in his last fight against Floyd Mayweather looked really old (apart for the first two rounds) so he is out. Then we have Mayweather. He used to be a great defensive fighter and who would beat most people, but if he steps up in class he stands a good chance of getting beat. He has never really wanted the fight with Pacquiao so he is not likely as a opponent.

With a limited choice of people for Pacquiao to fight I would like to see him go out with a bang in the stadium that Muhammad Ali fought Joe Frazier in manila. I would pick Andre Berto, Sergio Martinez and Juan Manuel Marquez as his last fight. Marquez wont be at his best in that fight but he’s an excellent fighter and a lot of Mexican fans want to see it. It would also be great for boxing if Mayweather and Pacquiao both fight each other as their last fights before they retire.

Manny and Floyd need to just get it on and neither need to retire anytime soon. I don’t know why this has even come up. Both are in prime shape and have shown no signs of decline.

learn from the Klitschko’s and widen your legacies gentlemen.

@that negro…I’ll bet my house Floydie won’t step up…against the PAC.

    House has no equity, lol.

  • Phoocquiao says:

    @ The negro..

stop lying, there is no way you’d bet your house on something as random as a fist fight.

If you do, that’s not confidence, that’s stupidity.

  • that negro says:

o yeah if he manny fight khan its only cause he know he can bea him cause they spar alot and sugar shane is wash up he lost to a commercial contnder fighter smh

  • The Bible of Boxing says:

In any order I would like to see:
    The trilogy with Marquez
Closure to the Floyd Willnever debate
One of either Berto, Bradley, Alexander or even Williams to see if he could handle a volume puncher with that huge edge in wingspan.
Before people start ridiculing the Williams fight, remember the oldtime fighters used to face guys who were 2 divisions above them and in those days they only had the traditional 8. So in today’s watered down can you imagine a lightweight 135 fighting a middleweight at 160? Manny is my boy and he loves a challenge but he meets larger fighters midway.
Personaly, I think that is fair especially since he is the cash cow but it is not as fantastic as what they used to do. Armstrong won 126, 135 and 147 and should also have won 160 but apparently was robbed. Today guys have stops at 130, 140 and 154 before going to 135, 147 and 160. Maybe we needed 200 cruiserweight because over 175 was heavyweight, but all the other divisions only serve to make guys starve themselves to win an extra title.
And with the number of alphabet titles, they all pick which title is easiest to take. When a guy made a title defence befoe he had to face the best available but today the same old retreads face each champ so they have many chances to get a title. When we look at today’s fighters’ resume we see they have the scalps of 10 former champs which really is quite misleading because most of today’s recent champs never make it to the HOF while many oldtimers do although they never won a title. Too many titles mean less great championship matches and that is what is killing my favourite sport.

    Correction:
Hello and listen world: Mayweather Jr. will never fight Manny Pacquiao, not even for $100 million. Floyd Jr. is afraid of Manny Pacquiao because he knows that Pacquiao is going to destroy him inside the ring. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a coward and mentally unstable. His logic is why should he fight Manny for money when he already has millions in his pocket? Why would he allow himself to be destroyed for $100 million which he doesn’t need. Mentally instable and scared, Floyd Jr. would rather be known as the greatest coward boxer of all time. To remain undefeated, to Floyd’s mind, puts him on top of the world and the greatest boxer of all time.

    peiro
thiers no height class…if williams sergo can make either 147b or 154 they should be able to fight manny regardless of height…..by the way manny is fighting for sergio 154 belt they stripped from him for no reason but yet setgio two big for manny but yet you are fighting for his belt you dont deserve lol..be 4real. if you can fight the cheater 5-11 who lost badly to mosley but then yuri formean same height but remember he was to tall for manny according to roach and arum..hmmm but it seems like they mean his style of boxer dosnt match up just like for sergio..thats cherry picking at its best and at a catch weight to smh.

  • rob says:

    @ ang..
if manny cant fight the cheat for sergio belt that they stripped from him then he should fight the best in that division which is sergio…and paul williams who fights in 154 division….if you cant fight either of those then you shouldnt cheat history and fight for a catch weight against someone who you should beat easily cause of the style match up.. thats stupid if you can fight cotto chavez and the cheat at 154 but then the best in the division you cant fight them and its simply crazy lol

  • Phoocquiao says:

    @ Bawjaws.

Thanks for repeating what Rulexo said before you.

Next time you want to reply to someone, try reading the rest of the conversation so you can avoid making yourself look like an ass. But giving your idiocy, such a thing would prolly be impossible for you.

But since you want to throw your hat into the convo, why don’t you look at the difference in names that we posted.

Pac’s opponents were beaten by top ranked welters, while two of Floyd’s opponents were beaten by Baldomir and a washed up Tszyu.

Let me translate that info for your under used brain. That means that Pac’s opponents are fighting (and losing) to better opposition than Floyd’s opponents.

So who’s the real cherry picker?

  • sulaman says:

manny to fight mayeweather sergio marinez and paul williams and i believe that all three can beat manny but i would like cotto to have a rematch with manny at the weight manny is fighting margarito because i believe that miguel is a stronger fighter at that weight

  • Phoocquiao says:

    @ lacem Up.

Agreeing to terms is avoiding a fighter?

    Sure buddy, keep dreaming.

Maybe he should have taken a page out of Floyd’s book and just retire or put boxing in the back seat to avoid challenges.

True fighters fight. Only one man is doing that. The other guy is FLoyd Mayweather.

  • lacem up says:

Pac acts like he will fight Mayweather but real fans know he dont want to… Pac as usual will sabatoge the fight by his demands of catchweights and venues, and he will want most of the money…

  • singsurat says:

No.1 Marquez for his last fight, sure, will retire after the fight. No.2 African American fighter, to shut the mought of the critic’s No.3 Mayweather for the final, and i hope Mayweather grows his 2small balls that time, e isto ne pare ko ba ta namang makapanalbeng masanting ng laban Paquiao, habang anak anak yapa..

  • AFRO says:

@Bawjaws: You are the purest of IDIOTS.. Mayweather barely beat ODH and avoided Cotto and Margo. Cotto barely beat Clottey. Keep trying to hate, your boy Mayweather is nowhere to be found. STUPIDITY is common among the Mayweathers and their fans.. LOL!!

  • AFRO says:

@SkillsWinFights: WHO AVOIDED WHO????? MAyweather was avoided by Pacquiao??? You better get you facts straight. Didn’t Williams call Mayweather out?? Dude, you are such an idiot!!!

  • SkillsWinFights. says:

    Williams
    Mosley
    Mayweather

All 3 fighters would beat Pacquiao. Hence the reason he’s avoided them.

  • piero says:

hey mister daniel: u might need to find a point !!!! your article does not make any sense, how in a hell 5’5″ manny pacquiao can fight 6‘ 3“ foot guy like williams 10 inches really make these fight uneasy to happen .165 cm reach of manny wont bee nearly enough to keep williams away from him.pacquiao has got no 1 chaNCE out of 100 with williams. the last fight for manny pacquiao will be with miguel cotto at 151 pounds . manny pacquiao winner or loser will retire from boxing in 2011. i hope manny will fight mayweather but these is not gonna happen . floyd will be confortable on fighting cotto if miguel can win the rematch with pacman. cotto vs mayweather will be the last exellent fight of these decate. good luck to manny pacquiao :margarito it’s a b class boxer but he has reach and is much taller then manny . i need pacman to beat these cheather .

  • scotsma says:

this has become a joke, pacman is just fightin for titles at catchweights why? that is not the point of titles. u wanna be a big dog get in the yard.
    plan and simple.

whats next klitcho at 147 catchweight?

pacman can win 12 titles in 12 weight classes makes no difference cause now he is not doin it at the proper limits.

mayweather is best fighter of a generation and while PACman is a whirlwind he isnt provin anythin by fightin a cheat, or a washed up cotto (possibly twice as some of u r sayin) fight a prime fighter at their weight and take the drugs tests

    end of

  • Jake04 says:

    1. Floydie (once he grow some b@ll$)

    2. Shane Mosley (He is still a good fighter, esp @ 154)

    3. Sergio Martinez (If he beats PW) @ 154. Thi1s will legitimize MP’s crown @ 154!

  • Rulexo says:

Maybe because those are his most prized achievements, and the reasons he was named p4p? Why would i be interested in discussing every bum that agreed to harm himself making weight to fight this fake?.

Just go before those retired big names and the only good fighter he stole two fights from him, below that there is not much… David Diaz (who) the past their prime Morales and Barrera, and that is IT.

just watch the video from maestro boxing and see how (from his own mouth) roach pick his opponents, he actually said himself that Cotto was damaged goods after the fight against Margarito.

Try to say something that makes some sense, i do not have to ask anyone to list the 100 fighters the great Julio Cesar Chavez beat before ending his undefeated streak, because he did not weight drain anyone, his head didn’t look like a-rod’s, and he fought the best out there, no clotteys, no old retired people.

  • Anonymous says:

@Rulexo.. you only posts 5 names, why not make it to 56 names that pacman had fought? so that we can differ.

  • RED says:

    @Rulexo

“He can’t even handle fighter that at least are not coming out of a loss or retired, not even knock out a fighter with diarrhea!!”

When did Pacman fight someone who just loss and how many times was fighting these defeated boxers?

  • Anonymous says:

martinez would make a load of excitement and money, but we are getting a bit larger in statute.realy how about Berto?

  • Fighter says:

Well written blog. Pretty real. Not too biased.

Anyway, there are a few who deserve the shot at Pac. Those who fought hard, clean, and have respectable records. Berto, Colazzo, mrtinez, Williams, Cintron. I did’nt mention Mayweather, because honestly, I don’t think either wants to fight the other. They both have made excuse after excuse. They have fought guys who don’t deserve it as much as others, and frankly, happen to be a great threat to their carreer. If I had it my way, I would create a rule (and enforce it, that said ranked fighters, had to fight the next best ranked guy. That way, we don’t have to have Mayweather/Baldomir, or Manny/Clottey. If they would man up, this is my pick:

    3.Winner of Martinez/Williams
    2.Settle the score with Marquez
1.If he made it this far…Mayweather.

  • Rulexo says:

WOW one 1d1ot actually wrote “the 2 klitschkos and valuev”…

  • ICheatedOnMyWife,SoIWouldCheatOnMySport says:

His next “fight”, should be against his cheating heart! Step up Pac and be a real man, and then maybe your wife will start to respect you again.

  • wisely says:

    Mayweather
    Khan
    Marquez

  • Phoocquiao says:

Yeah, I’d definitely say Mayweather, and Marquez. The third? Maybe Williams if he can make that weight. Not Mosley cause Mosley is done as far as I’m concerned. I hear the last guy to knock Pac out is boxing again. Maybe that guy.

  • lord of the ring says:

The congressman, the world famous boxing superstar is being pulled in so many directions, even superman cannot handle these distractions. Margarito is going to be last fight for Hon. Representative Manny Pacquiao. He is so famous that he will be the first president of the world.

  • kaliwete579 says:

He could fight who ever Arum chooses. Non of you all bum here could ever tell Pac whom to fight except Arum. But I were Arum, I would say Khan, Marquez and Winner of Matinez-Williams

  • G Man says:

Mayweather@ 147, The winner of Paul Williams vs Sergio Martinez @147 or 154, Jaun Manuel Marquez @ 147 so hopefully Marquez can learn he can’t fight at that weight for the second time! Obviously if Mayweather runs again, Pac can replace him with Berto and hopefully get rid of his perfect record?

  • Run, Floyd, Run says:

I hope he KTFO Mayweather… but the coward is gonna keep running like the girl he is…

  • Rulexo says:

It is very easy, if he decides to clean up and accept random drug testing up until fight night the fight will happen, every sports caster agreed that it was very strange to walk away from a 30+ MILLION dollar payday just because of a blood test, it has been proved by doctors that the amount of blood drawn for the test doesn’t affect your performance in any way.

And anyway, it’s not like mayweather controls when the tests take place, he might be the one tested right on fight night, that is why is called random.

But that won’t happen because pacr0id0 is “afraid of needles” (and fighters in their prime, and weight drained fo course).

So all of you failipinos need to 5TFU about floyd hiding, i hate his ridiculous big mouth, but he is righ, pacr0id0 has a humongous head…

  • Floyd Who??? says:

Kidding aside. I still want PAC to fight Floydie hoping Floydie won’t deny PAC that opportunity.

If Floyd ducks for cover again, A fight with Berto for both their welterweight titles would be great at 147 lbs.

I think PAC should stay at his natural welterweight and clean up the division and be the undisputed welterweight champion

  • Pathetic Coward Floyd Jr Supporters says:

    C’mon Floyd fight Manny!
I’m on vacation and I’m not thinking about boxing right now…

    C’mon Floyd fight Manny!

    C’mon Floyd fight Manny!
    I’m going to jail…

    C’mon Floyd fight Manny!
    I’m taking that 35 years in prison…

    After 35 years:

Is Manny still around? I’ll better go back in jail…

  • Christina says:

    1. Serigo Martinez( That fight is more possible to happen than Mayweather, also Martinez ain’t getting any younger)

    2. Floyd Mayweather (still would love to see that fight).

    3. Bradly/Alexander/Maidana: Khan ain’t getting a fight unless he switches trainers but these young hungry guy deserve a shot.

  • Boxer111 says:

  • Floyd Who??? says:

Third : Floyd again….beat him slowly, make sure to reach it to 12 rounds, then at the final minute. release the power shot! BOOM!!!!! May’ retires forever. ( fourth retired boxer )

  • Tony says:

Who would I like to see Pacquiao fight in his last three fights?

    1. Floyd Mayweather
    2. Paul Williams
    3. Sugar Shane Mosley

But Pacquiao isn’t a natural welterweight. Even as an older fighter now, his best weight would be at 140. So who do I think Pacquiao *should* fight?

    1. Timothy Bradley
    2. Amir Khan
    3. Devon Alexander

  • hello!!!! says:

    @The Truth

I think you need to forget Mayweather. He’s not fighting Pacquiao. It’s just too obvious he’s avoiding Pacquiao. He just got a bunch of excuses not to fight Pacquiao. Pacquiao confirmed that he agrees the random blood test up to the fight and Shaeffer confirmed that. And they lied that there’s no negotiatiom while HBO Ross Greenburg confirmed that there’s a negotiation. I think he’s going to jail. The case was just so strong especially his own kids testified against him.

  • hello!!!! says:

I think Berto is a better opponent than Marquez. Marquez is old and slow at welterweight. It’s true that Marquez gave Pacquiao a good fights but Pacquiao is way better now than the time they fought.

  • Rulexo says:

Marquez to see if this time he can beat him and not steal the fight, Cotto, and Mayweather.

No catchweights and random drug tests until fight night, no bvllsh1t.

Impossible for him to man up, you’ll see, he’ll fight some retired old big name (and he will weight drain him just tom make sure there is no chance of losing) like Barrera or Morales.

Please stop suggesting he is any good, it is a good thing he is retiring soon, good riddance.

    Partele su Pvt4 madr3 Margaro!!!

Remove Mosley – he’s done. He needs to retire.

    (AND HE WOULD)

Gary and Hypocrite: Very funny throwing in David lair, Williams and PBF. Clever stuff.

Finally a writer on this site who is getting this thing right with Pacman and doesn’t have to type garbage non-sense for the sole purpose of attention.

Mayweather will never have the guts to step to Pacman. Bradley is to small with a too open style of fighting. He would get drilled in the first or second from a punch that pacman would have bad intentions with. Berto, much the same, but would have a punchers chance. Paul Williams or Sergio Martinez I really do believe would be to big for him. Its already a stretch for him fighting Margs. Both those men would be tall orders for pacman (No pun intended)
