Pacquiao vs. Margarito: A Hopeful Compromise? – Pt 2

By Hernan Cortez: The training variable alone generates interest. The second variable came from HBO’s downright hypnotic advertisement productions. During their Face Off segment, Margarito responded to the assertion that he would be knocked out by stating, “what does he think I’m crippled or something?” To which Freddy Roach responded “No, I saw your last two fights.”
Other factors also aid in selling this fight. Take into account that we may never know if Margarito actually used plaster loaded gloves during a fight before Mosley. Take into account the performance enhancing drug abuse allegations made against Pacquiao, which causes us to watch his performances even closer.
Finally, take into account the catch weight factors as well as the reality that Margarito will be fighting at a more comfortable weight than in his Mosley outing, and now we have a matchup that somehow feels appropriate.
So here I am, I bought the hype, which means I am buying the fight. The advertising has done its job. I’m singing a completely different tone from just a couple of weeks ago. Although the odds would leave one to believe this is an easy fight to call, the hype has blurred the line. The story surrounding this fight has manifested into something too tempting to pass up. There are too many questions left to be answered once the bell rings. Will Margarito achieve redemption? Was Pacquiao taking this fight serious? Will it be as brutal and violent of a fight as it seems to be developing into? I can only hope Margarito offers more than Clottey, and that the fight will live up to the hype. Besides, what other major boxing match do I have to watch on November 13th? I am not saying this will be the greatest match up possible or that it is an appropriate replacement for other bouts of high demand. I am simply saying they got me, I have compromised again, have you?

Either of the two can stop each other. Both are punchers but only one will win the fight. “Height is might”, and the other is “small but sting like a bee”. The big one says his size is an edge, but the small one had in mind that the big one will be an easy target. I’m getting restless waiting to see who will dominate the fight. Yes, it’s a learning process for us to know if height really matters. This fight will teach us something later-on, and that’s what I’ve wanted to see.

It is very obvious that the article in this column is trying to portray not attracting sales about the bout between PACMAN AND MARGARITO. And as much as possible is trying to discourage boxing fans from watching the fight at the COWBOY STADIUM, because of the venue is not done in Las Vegas and tries to discredit PACMAN MOST ESPECIALLY DAVE LAHR AND CRIS WILLIAMS AND PACMAN HATERS. This is a great and real fight not fixed compared to FLOYD MAYWEATHER AND SHANE MOSLEY. When a fight is exciting inflicting BODILY INJURIES,KNOCKOUT AND TKO, its real not fixed. WATCH THE FIGHT OF MOSLEY AND MAYWEATHER, that is the most complete fixed game as some people believe.
Manny explosive when he on,he can bait you,as he step back from getting him if someone follows he step back forward with a fast right uppercut and a left hook.and he throw over punches,and he uppercut from angles and side step,he has very fast foot work.he on his toes but drop down for power punches, his fastistic foot work is under played.
Um just saying that Margacheato doesn’t deserve this type of fight and opportunities without having to work for his spot again. oh well that is why I hope he loses. Also Pacman has pop but fight can go either way, ashame…..
Of course this is a important fight if you follow manny this fight will lead up to a manny and Paul Williams fight, next and Floyd and I say khan not madaina at 140. Will fight, then Floyd and manny will meet the following year too decide the king. Don’t miss it.
First off I’m no Pacman fan nor Margarito’s, but I have no doubt that Margarito’s plaster filled gloves was done plenty of times before. Until he was exposed why would he have not done it prior. I’m sure it was routine. Although I credit Margacheato for having one of the most solid chins in boxing, I’m sure a fighter like Cotto would’ve been able to break him down but them shots Margarito returned which were less busy but held more weight didn’t allow Cotto to plant his feet that often, which in turn would’ve allowed more power punches and less energy avoiding punches. Cotto had a better shot at Pacman but some boxers just don’t recover from losses like that of what Margacheato did to Cotto. Oh well even though he seems to be training at his best and his remarkable chin gives him some advantage, Pacman is still awkwardly very dangerous. Many have slept and many have failed. I hope he ko’s that Margacheato dude. Trinidad would’ve ko’d either one on their best days. Shot outs to E.Morales, Chavez, Barera, and many more too many to name.

@ Kidboxer. Hearns didn’t win that many titles/fights and at so many different weights, whilst some how managing to carry his speed and power up with him. Pacquiao has managed to do what none of the fighters (you mentioned) have done. Is manny that good?…I hope so, but there’s certainly a part of me that feels suspicious about his recent achievements, and the rapid increase in size of the man’s head!
You’d be wise to look back at the pictures of Manny then (in the Featherweight division) and the version of him now. Whilst his body has obviously increased in muscle, it seems as Pacquiao’s head has also dramatically grown, far more than the norm!!!
