Is Froch fully focused on Abraham?

By Scott Gilfoid: With all fuss that former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) has been making over his loss to Mikkel Kessler last April, you have to wonder if Froch will be ready for his next Super Six tournament fight against Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) on November 27th at the Hartwell Arena, in Helsinki, Finland. Froch was beaten in his last fight by Kessler in a 12 round decision and the defeats seems to have hit Froch hard, because it seems like he can’t stop talking about it.

Instead of acknowledging that he was beaten by a better man, Froch seems to be resisting reality and is convinced that he should have won the fight. Froch needs to come to terms with the defeat and move on to the task at hand with Abraham. With all the constant bellyaching Froch has been doing about the loss to Kessler, I think the dude is going to get his head taken off by the hard hitting Armenian on November 27th.

I don’t think Froch is mentally ready for the Abraham fight. And he’s got other things in his life going on, such as the birth of his son Rocco. That’s got to be another stressor because he obviously wants to spend time with his kid and training is something you got to put all your time into. And top of all that, Froch hurt his back and that’s kept him out of action for even longer.

I think Froch is going to be coming into the Abraham fight less than 100% mentally and probably less than 100% physically with his back giving him problems. This isn’t the fight in which Froch can get by with less than 100% mental and physical efforts. I think he’s going to get knocked cold. Froch needs to adapt, evolve and change as a fighter so that he’s not so hittable all the time. But I don’t see that happening. Froch is going to go out there on November 27th, and probably using his head as glove to soak of punishment and I think his chin is finally going to betray him after all this time.

I see Froch going down like a big ship in the middle of an ocean after Abraham tags him with a series of big right hands to the chin. Froch will be able to take some of them, but eventually Abraham’s power is going to have Froch on the canvas looking up at the lights and seeing stars. I think Froch would have a chance to win if he recognized that he got spanked by Kessler, and fixed his many mistakes in the fight. But, Froch thinks he won, and probably won’t be fixing anything because of that. How sad.
