David Haye vs Audley Harrison: Comedy fight or November’s blockbuster?

By Dallan o’ Donnell: November sees many blockbuster fights -Manny Pacquaio takes on Antonio Margarito and Juan Manuel Marquez takes on Australian Michael Katsidis but to include David Haye and Audley Harrison for Hayes WBA heavyweight crown would be a mockery. I see this fight as David Haye’s warm-up for the klitschkos and one last big pay day for Audley. It won’t be much of a warm-up for Haye however as I really cannot see Harrison last more than 3 to 4 rounds. Harrison has been dominating all the pre fight talk and were seeing little of champion Haye which is the way he will keep it too letting Harrison talk before the fight whilst Haye does all of his talking in the ring probably another bold statement like the one he made against John Ruiz.

Harrison is training in the states milking all the attention from the media showing cameras around his home meeting his family in an attempt to have the public on his side, a public he once had in the palm of his hand as an Olympic gold medallist but has lost them to his poor and boring ring performances as a pro. He has however won prize-fighter and beat Michael sprott in a sensational last round knockout- probably the most excitement we have seen in an Audley fight. But does all of that warrant a world title shot? I don’t think so.

Audley is far too slow to trouble Haye and has poor movement but this is heavyweight boxing and one punch could change a fight and Audley does have a powerful left hand that he likes to wind up and deliver on his opponents chin, the only problem this time is that he faces the fastest and most exciting heavyweight around who won’t give him the chance to wind up his left hand. Haye will once again put on a show for the fans by knocking out Harrison his one time friend with explosive presence Haye should finish Audley in 4 rounds. Haye has said he plans to retire in October 2011 and I expect him to make a statement against Harrison and fight the Klitschkos next year.

Can’t believe Harrison even has a shot at the title. What has he done to deserve this? The most boring useless so called fighter I’ve ever seen.
I hope and am sure that Haye will knock this bum clean out and end harrisons worthless career and ridiculous belief that he can be a world champ.

i can’t believe some of the comments here. this is the most comic fight i’ve ever heard. haye should be fighting the best. he is good enough and should start proving it against the world best.

harrison on the other hand, is the worsed fighter i have ever seen step into the ring. how or why he turned pro is unbelievable, by the 2nd round harrison is tired, his foot work is worse than my nans and she’s 90, he has a hard punch yea when he can use it when he isn’t tired. every fighty since he turned pro has been boring and rubbish and some how he still saying he will show everyone lol, a complete joke of an athlete never proved anytyhing nor done anything except win gold some how. crazy to think some believe he may pull it off against haye likes he been hiding his talent and he’s about to show it off, he never hiding or has one great performance in him because he hasnt got any skill.

no stamina no footwork, the only good thing he has got is hugging the others wen he wants to sleep. waste of space and a waste of a fight in my eyes.

@…Jonny ….No England is not way ahead of the USA in boxing but England like alot of other small 3rd world countries is not doing that bad. But I do think you guys are world leaders as far as alcohol consumption and unemployment and cross dressers.

  • DeadScared says:

Haye hasn’t been talking much lately. He has yet to get over his shock after seeing Vitali massacre Briggs.

  • PATPUMP says:

I think it will be a good fight to watch. There is bad blood and two very different fighters involved. I want Harrison to win, because of all the hype alot of people are expecting a big spectalcle one way or the other, however it could possibly become a real stinker because either guy is a big talent. Anything can happen here,
Audley has a motivation problem but Haye is easy pickings for a big hard punching heavyweight.

More people are interested in this fight than are letting on. Whether your a Haye,Harrison,Klitschko or just a boxing fan your gonna wanna know how it goes down. No matter what you think of it. It’s really that simple.
Sad news about Katsidis’ brother, the fight between him and JMM will be a good un when it happens.

  • straightup says:

How come none of the writers on this site have mentioned the potential postponement/cancellation of the Marquez-Katsidis fight due to the death of Katsidis’s brother?

  • Klitschko fan says:

The “Championship of London” between Haye vs Harrison has entertainment value to some British fans, but could hardly be classified as a HW “blockbuster”.

The comedy will be on Haye should he get beat.

  • UK BRAWLER says:

@ nick v, lol nice one bro, true on all counts.

  • Joe Mitchell says:

Blockbuster for general public and comedy fight for real fans.
