Chisora calls Briggs an “Embarrassment to boxing”

By Dave Lahr: I just saw video of the press conference between IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) and his next opponent Derek Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) in Germany. Chisora called Shannon Briggs an “Embarrassment to boxing” because he was beaten by WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko last weekend. I’d like to see how Chisora would fight with a torn left biceps. He should try that out for a change. He can come back at 38, then experience a tear in his left biceps and then fight for 12 rounds with it. I’d like to see how well Chisora does fighting with that kind of injury at that advanced age.

This is what Chisora said about Briggs: “I won’t give respect to this man, because he has let down all of boxing. He’s an embarrassment to boxing. He should hang up his gloves. If I saw him myself, I’d slap his face.” Briggs would beat Chisora right now if he didn’t have a muscle tear. I think a prime Briggs would literally destroy Chisora without even batting an eyelash, but I think Briggs would easily handle Chisora right now because of Shannon’s power.

After Wladimir finishes beating Chisora up, I’d like to see Chisora take on Briggs so that he could show how much better he is than him. I think it would be funny to see Chisora getting beaten up by a fighter that he calls an “embarrassment to boxing.” Wladimir asked Chisora to respect Briggs for his past accomplishments and Chisora wouldn’t even listen. Briggs needs to take on Chisora next, if his promoter will let him. I doubt Briggs will get a chance to fight Chisora because after he gets knocked out, he’ll probably be put back in with domestic fighters for the next two or three years while he licks his wounds from the beating. A prime Briggs would be nightmare for Chisora and I think Briggs still has more than enough left to beat Chisora, barring anymore bicep tears. I’d like to see Chisora take 1/5th of the kind of punishment that Briggs took against Vitali without getting knocked out. Sam Sexton, a weak puncher, had Chisora in trouble during their last fight.

Latest news is Chisora’s going to court on an assault charge. This is a freakin major distraction that Wlad shouldn’t deal with. Put Freakin Ty Fields in there hed be a better freakin oponnent. It gives both parties time enough to train.

  • PATPUMP says:

Yeah dude your right but also your boy Lennox was knocked out by 2 americans

  • j jackson says:

AT THE END OF THE DAY BRIGGS HAS MUCH BIGGER BALLS THAN VITALI IHURTMYSHOULDER I QUIT QUITSKO…VITALI IS A QUITING P*SSY,

  • j jackson says:

    @PATPUMP
iTS A SHAME BRIGGS FIRST KO LOSS WAS TO A LIMEY.

  • rod says:

YES IT WAS AN EMBARRASSMENT JUST LIKE CHISORA GETTING A TITLE SHOT

  • Millwall says:

Sorry Dave Lahr but Chisora is right. Briggs was just in it to top up his retirement fund and the Klitchko’s will always take an easy pay day, their careers are built on them.

  • BIG STUFF says:

English fighters were allways known to be heavy bleeders now they are known for being blow hards.

  • j jackcson says:

i have to give credit to the brits for their loyalty to their fighters—it is often way over the top, for instance thinking chisora has a chance. i also am amused when a poster says vitali is afraid of david haye… but it has its place and when tyson was recently treated so well by the british boxing public it was very moving, and it was a tonic for his often dark, flagging spirit. so i just have to say thanks. hes a good men who trying to overcome the hand that was dealt him.

  • PATPUMP says:

Chisora should have kept his stupid mouth shut, now no one will feel sorry for him after Wlad crunches him. I would love to see him face up to Briggs, who has more credintials than all of the weak over rated Limey heavyweights put together…….Just more stupidity coming from London.

  • Stinky Womak says:

@Punk. Thank you, you’ve pretty much summed it up for me!

  • tot says:

Clean cut. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. You sound like someone s f*&king grandma

  • SME says:

Both began speaking very civil, and Chisora appeared to be a bit shy and difficult to find words. But later on, he started to speak what he “thinks”, and that was *BS*. Slapping Briggs in the face because he was no match for Vitali Klitschko with a torn biceps ? We will see how strong Chisora is when it’s on HIM to get sparked in the face time and again from a 250lb man. I bet we see him crawling over the ground, where Briggs finished standing.

  • Floyd's On Roids says:

I see Wladimir Klitschko knocking out Derek Chisora into a comatose state. With Klitschko’s height of 6’6″ height and a 81″ reach against Chisora’s 6’1″ height and a 74″ reach, I don’t see Chisora breaking through Klitschko’s defense (if Wladi boxes). I don’t think Chisora will have an answer for Klitschko’s offense either, not with that 81″ reach.

Chisora has no class, in disrespecting Shannon Briggs and interrupting Wladimir, while he is commenting. But, hey this is boxing, this kind of trash talk sells the fight!

Dave Lahr? Is this really you? You’re usually anti-Klitschko. I actually agree with you on this article.

  • jj says:

just herd chisora at press conference what an embaresment ,he is as bad as haye and harrison, cant listen or watch these tallentless mouth pieces,a waste of space.

  • Alpha says:

I must admit, All Dave Lahr prediction since 2005 were all wrong. So David Lahr, only if I was against you in all your predictions, I would have made millions by now.

Anywayz I like Chisora and his style will give Wladimir a big problem. To be honest I can even see Chisora knocking Wladimir out clean from inside. Although Chisora carries a bit of fat, if he can lose some of that fat which will enable him to last longer in the fight. We could see a huge upset.

David your still an ambarrassment yourself

Shannon tore no bicep. He mentioned nothing in the press conf after the fight. I watched the fight again, i see nothing in the fight that tells me he tore his bicep

He is an ol worn out fighter who has nothing anymore. He came in overweight and outclassed, thats all there is to it.

Chisora is a chump who has fought nothing of any significance. He is also coming for a payday. Any other fighter would have beat someone of significance before attempting one of the k brothers. He doesn’t even deserve a fight with David Haye, let alone a K Brother. Too many other fighters who have earned their way need this chance

  • PATPUMP says:

Chisora is going to be a flabby punching bag, maybe he will have a decent chin and enough heart to last 5 rounds, just another English blowhard that means nothing to the heavyweight division but is a big deal over there.

  • bloodfight says:

i dissagree abourt what you said about briggs, but i agree that haye would beat klitshko, klitshko would have to fight haye to have any chance but haye beats them any day

  • Argiboy210 says:

i think Chisora loses by the 6th round but throws more punchers then all the American boxers who have fought both Klitschko’s …. so he should only have to throw about 20 punches in 6 rounds lol

stop posting anti british blogs and focus on news !

  • wild hog says:

im english but what chisora said about briggs is out of line because briggs would ko chisora.
fro once i respect wlad for his comments on shannon briggs.

but when he fights david haye wlad will lose beacuse david haye wont stand there and get jabbed all night.

  • bloodfight says:

i like what chisora said to klitshko, its the truth, it is horrable to watch them fight, it is agony, i watch there fights in hope that some 1 will strip them of the belts to spice up the heavywaight, in my opinion this fight is going to be entertaining because chisora is so unortordox style and he hits verry hard, he is good at getting on the inside and doing damage, im not saying he will win but he is young fresh and not short of confadence, and he is always in shape wich is more than i can say about klitshko’s last 5 apponents, i predict a verry good fight this time

  • crazy says:

    I’m from
I’m from NYC, and Briggs went into survival mode as soon as he injured his arm. As an experienced fighter as he is, he should of went out on his sheild instead of trying to survive. No one can beat a K.bros. with one hand. He should have gone balls to the wall until his arm couldn’t take it anymore or ask the ref to stop it. In the wild the most dangerous animal is an injured animal!

  • rick says:

Mr Lahr is now beginning to write some fair and true statements. Chisors is another loud mouthed, trash talking idiot. I hope Wladimir turns his face into a pizza and then KO’s him with extreme prejudice. Take no prisoners Wladimir. Make this clown Chisora pay!

  • martin says:

DAve Lahr is an embarrassment for boxing too!

  • DAZA says:

HA HA HA HAS CHISORA HURT YOU WITH THAT COMMENT HA

  • john says:

What chisora is saying is right, briggs didnt ever try to win that fight (injury or not) he did not want to get stopped, like johnson before him his sole aim was to be able to say he went 12 with vitali
unlike johnson he didnt run all night, he just let his face soak up the punches. i dont think fighters should be given credit for soaking up 12 rounds of punishment. its that attitude that helps these guys end up messed up in their 40s and 50s
delboy prob wont win but he will try to win, he wont be in there trying to survive the 12 trust me
also once the hype train gets going for this fight watch out for him, he is a loose cannon, kissing, ear biting and trash talking – i cant wait (and no of course i dont think he can win!!!)

  • T-rock says:

Wow, Klitschko to knockout Chisora, maybe Lahr also had a tramatic head injury as well. Get well soon Dave! By the way, great pick with Briggs, injuried or not same outcome.

  • BIG G says:

does that mean mike tyson is an embaresment for fighting and losing to kevin mcbride when he z himself he just didnt have the fight in him anymore???no it dosnt mike tyson will be a great..and shannon briggs who isnt on the same level as tyson should be givin respect not run into the ground by a man like chisora..the guy has let himself down here

  • anonymous says:

i think the point that chisora was making is why go into a world title fight and barely throw a punch after giving it the big i am even if he did have an injury!

  • Doctor says:

Watch the press conference and see just how our British representative handles himself with a professional Like Wladimir…embarrassing.

  • Davey Morris says:

Surviving in a 12 rounder and being competitive are two completely different things, which is lost on so many of you.

Chisora is 14 fights into his career and has taken the challenge of Wlad K, who the hell was Briggs fighting at that stage? Briggs was a shambles and is discrediting himself now by suggesting with a working left bicep, he would be champ.

  • Paul Howell says:

I don’t think Chisora running his mouth of about Briggs is fair. Yes, Briggs lost to Vitali in a one-sided bout, but if Chisora can even go the distance with Vitali, I’ll eat my laptop!!

Shannon Briggs stepped up to face Vitali in what we all probably knew would be a one-sided beating, but he gave it his all, was in excellent shape (Chris Aerola take note) and made it through to the end. Plus he was a true gentleman in defeat, a credit to boxing, whereas Chisora, “a credit to boxing” is the last phrase I’d use to describe him.

  • Gnome says:

Agree with Lahr on this one. Briggs would rip Chisora up. And despite Ali and all that craap, such lack of respect shouldn’t have a place in boxing.

  • Kid Dynamite says:

All you people including Haye saying that Chisora is too inexperienced to beat Klit, upsets do happen?? aint saying that chisora will win but if ihe loses it wont come down to inexperience?? spinx was a 10 fight novice (i think) when he beat Ali and he was considered inexperienced but still won? so anything can happen

  • BIG G says:

never mind the fact that chisora has just let us brits down by being an ignoramous..dave lahr just said wlad klitchko is going to beat a black boxer wtf is going on lol
