Who can Shane Mosley fight now? Forget Pacquiao and Cotto

By Dan Ambrose: It would be kind to say that Shane Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KO’s) has underperformed in his last two fights. Mosley, 39, lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. by a 12 round decision in May, and then on September 18th, Mosley fought to a boring 12 round draw with Sergio Mora. That was one of the dullest fights I’ve seen in quite some time, and Mosley looked slow, lethargic and old. Bob Arum, the head of Top Rank, isn’t interesting in matching Mosley up with his fighters Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.
Unless Mosley is interested in fighting someone like Joshua Clottey, who Arum was willing to match against Mosley in the past, he probably can forget about fighting any of Top Ranks stable of fighters. Mosley needs to downsize his desire to fight big named opponents, because he hasn’t looked entertaining enough in his last two fights to lure any of the other popular fighters in taking him on.

mosley is well over the hill now,hes looked pretty bad in 4 of his last five fights…the only one he looked good in against margarito cos he was on the gear..that was so obvious..bout time some consistent drug testing was introduced
Chavez Jr., Judah, M. Hatton, Clottey, Angulo, Berto, Alvares, Marquez, Margarito, Cotto, or a mega fight with DelaHoya. If Oscar can come back for one more run! Any of these fights will sell! Mosley still has one more year of good boxing left!
Man Mosley need to Man Up!! And get in the ring with Berto so he can get KO’D before he retires…

it may be time for “the red head ” to step up. Moslay may be ripe for the taking. I could see Canelo giving the Mosley I saw last week loads of trouble.

The last time Arum matched Mosley against a Top Rank fighter, Shane knocked him the FUUC out.

All the fighters suggested at the end would be great for mosley and for boxing fans. But i still think that MosleyCotto II can be made despite the feude between GBP and TR, because of the fact that its what the fans want. Both cotto and mosley have allot of questions around them right now but the winner would answer all the doubters while the looser would probably have to retire.
Mosley should keep fighting. He’ll serve as a good measuring stick for untested fighters. I’d like a fight between him and Canelo or Andre Berto. Even though Mosley no longer deserves a huge fight he’d be a much better matchup for Pacquiao than Margacheato garbage.

Moseley should call it a day,….there’s no point of collecting loses. It’s a different world now, unlike his steroid days he was quicker and could throw apunch a lot more and harder as well compared to his two latest fights that were very lacluster. A smart boxer should know the differece and effect when they used to be on steroid compared to when they are not.

I agree with the writer,it makes zero sense for Manny to fight Shane at this point.The list of fighters you named are the perfect opponents for Mosley to try and make a comeback against.

Mosley clottey is good option for two fighters coming off poor performances whatever the reasons
Clottey will stand right in front on Mosley all night and will open up and attack more than he did against the PAC man.
Good option for both definitely at this stage of their careers
