McGuinness vs Grant on September 25th

TORONTO (Sept. 15, 2010) – SUPER CHANNEL, Canada’s only national pay television network, is proud to announce that it will air the highly anticipated “UNDISPUTED RIVALS – McGuinness vs Grant” event LIVE from the Hershey Centre in Mississauga next Saturday, September 25th. The telecast will begin at 9:00 PM ET.

UNDISPUTED RIVALS is headlined by a ten round NABA lightweight championship battle between Orangeville natives Logan Cotton-McGuinness (11-0-1, 5 KO’s) and Buzz Grant (9-3, 4 KO’s), a bout which many boxing insiders are calling one of the most anticipated grudge matches in Ontario boxing history.

The action packed undercard will be highlighted by a showdown of unbeaten welterweight prospects as Samuel “El Producto” Vargas faces Ryan “The Nightmare” Wagner. The stacked card will also feature Jr. “The Show” Dann taking on Phil Rose, Julius Bunda, rising star Denton Daley, and cruiserweight Steve Franjic as he makes his pro debut after an outstanding amateur career.

The card is promoted by United Boxing Promotions, Onatrio’s leader in live boxing action.

Super Channel has also announced a high profile broadcast team for the event, with legendary boxing announcer Al Bernstein calling the action from ringside, and Thomas Treiber as the Ring Announcer for the evening.

Bernstein, the voice of boxing for the Showtime Networks, is celebrating his 30th year as a boxing broadcaster and sports personality. He was one of the key on-air personalities in launching ESPN and spent 24 years as the main voice of boxing at that network. He also announced the boxing for NBC at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games. For the last six years he has been an analyst and play by play announcer at Showtime on the Showtime Championship Boxing and ShoBox series boxing broadcasts and several Mixed Martial Arts events as well.

Thomas Treiber will be making his second appearance at the Hershey Centre, having MC’d the last United Promotions event that took place in July. For the past 18 years Thomas Treiber has been one of the most visible Ring Announcers for professional boxing and mixed martial arts. His credits include work on Showtime, HBO, ESPN, CBS, ITV, Fox Sports Net, USA Network, Comcast Sports Net, Telefutura, Spike TV and Pay-Per-View.
