Khan: “If Maidana doesn’t talk a reasonable purse, then I’ll make other options”

by William Mackay: It looks as if WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) is already hinting about not fighting WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s), even though that’s the fight that boxing wants to see.
There it is. Khan looks as if he’s wriggling out of the Maidana fight using the money as an excuse not to fight him. I never thought Khan would fight Maidana, so this doesn’t really surprise me any. I would be shocked if Khan did fight Maidana, but that would almost surely end with Khan being knocked out. And once Khan is flattened again, his fights will likely make much less money. Being knocked out once is one thing, but being knocked out a second time will be a real killer blow for Khan’s career. I see him using the excuse that Maidana wants too much money not to have to fight him.

The WBA should just strip the title from CON and give it to the winner of Bradley vs Alexander and the winners fights Maidana!!!

Boxing is a business not a sport and money rules. That is the capitalist principle that the USA works upon. So blame America for all this type of rubbish in boxing, it has become Americanised.
@maidana out cold.. khan is always goin to get more even if maidana gets a mill, khan just looking for a way out, its obvious, maidana is mandatory i know but he has enough pulling power to athleast get a mill in a cerreer defining fight like this, so much on the line, khans afraid, i think khan will outbox maidana but i also think that khan is afraid of maidana’s power and thats why he is using money as an axcuse

why isn’t Maidana the mandatory challenger? The WBA need to step in and force this fight to happen. I believe Khan wil beat Maidana, but lot’s of people dont, and if Khan doesn’t fight him, he’ll look like a coward, come on Amir, knock him out!
