Hatton to enter rehab clinic for cocaine addition

By Sean McDaniel: Former IBF light welterweight champion Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) is reportedly going to be entering a rehab clinic for cocaine addition this week, according to boxing news from the Mirror.co.uk. Hatton, 31, was caught snorting seven lines of what appeared to be cocaine in a video given to the site News of the World. The incident took place two weeks ago in a Hotel in Manchester, England. Hatton was observed chopping up the white power with his credit card and then snorting seven lines in front of a video camera.
Hatton, who looks to have put on at least 60 pounds since his last fight against Manny Pacquiao a year ago in May, has reportedly been using cocaine for almost a year – says the Mirror – after he lost to Pacquiao by 2nd round knockout.
It’s unclear whether the rehab clinic will be focusing only on cocaine or other drugs, such as alcohol. Hatton was said to have drank at least 11 pints of Guinness on the same night, along with four glasses of vodka and two glasses of wine. Needless to say, this is a huge amount of alcohol to drink for a person who stands only 5’6”. Hatton might want to get help in this area as well, because drinking can be just as serious a problem as cocaine if a person is overdoing it.
Judging by the high amount of alcoholic beverages Hatton drank on that night, I think it’s something Hatton might need a tad bit of help with. His weight has ballooned from a slender 140 to over 200 pounds in the past year, and all of that weight can’t be attributed to Hatton just eating well. Drinking has a part in it.

@Harry, That was a little rude,LMAO! but 100% true! Ricky Hatton was NEVER as good as his fans made him out to be. He was a “half-descent fighter at best” I was never a fan of his style. Even before the Mayweather fight, I said he does not belong in the same ring. Although it seemed he was in that fight, he could NEVER defeat a true skilled boxer like Floyd! When he faced Pacman, I gave him 3 round before it was stopped, unfortunately he didn’t make to then, He should have did what Calzaghe did, beat our 40+ former legends then retire. Even know, Hopkins will retire a couple steps above Calzaghe. Again, I wish Ricky the best! Dont worry about the losses . . . your only human and your fans will find some excuses whether it be Joe Cortez or Floyd May Sr. Keep your head up!
Ricky Hatton is only human. He didnt harm anybody but himself. I think before he ever decides to come back, he will have to take care of himself. Hes a defintely a descent fighter, just ran into the Worlds best in Mayweather/Pacquiao. No reason to hold his head low and get depressed. Work his way back and take care of himself.

I blame Mayweather Sr. for what is happening to Hatton now. Sr is short on Hatton’s training, came late, no strategy, left him while he struggled catching his breath in second round while Mayweather took of to the bank and CACHING!
Then Sr envited Hatton back to the US for Mayweather’s fight! Who knows what have been Sr. has been given him?

Ricky Hatton faced the elite fighters and was embarassed. He let his fans believe him into thinking that he was on Mayweather/Pacquiao level. That was his only mistake. He should have stuck to fighter B to C list fighters and retire 54-0. Euro fans pump and pump their fighters up and soon as they OBVIOUSLY are defeated, here comes the excuses. I wish Ricky the Best as a human being! But as a fighter, his style would HAVE NEVER matched against the elite.

Gutted to hear this, but glad that he is at least going to be getting help. I can understand why the friend did it – for all the right reasons.
He needs to get back in a gym, maybe not fight or at least not at a top level, but he needs to get back into his old habbits and not these new ones.
It seems to be alarming that boxers who retire (or are preactically retired) appear to go off the rails in such a fashion.
Ricky Hatton friend was wrong to humiliate him but it save his life.
Surely nobody can be surprised…! Unfortunately, cocaine is a very common drug these days used by many!! When you think how hard some of these pro’s have to train, it’s no wonder they let off steam in such an extreme way.. I just hope Hatton has the attiutude.. he’s had some fun on it, now call it a day.. It’s like anything… It won’t kill you, as long as you know where to draw the line…!! not literally!!
