Don King thinks Mayweather vs. Pacquiao is still possible

By Eric Thomas: Legendary promoter Don King thinks it’s still possible to put together the big money mega fight between unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao in the near future. Speaking to Usatoday.com, the 79-year-old King says “Yes, it would be bigger than ever if I’m involved. It’s a bright star, but you don’t know how to follow it, it’s like a lost ball in high weeds.” It would be great if King were to resume his talks with Mayweather and see if he can persuade him to enter talks with Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank for a fight with Pacquiao.
That’s a fight that few people, other than diehard Cotto and Pacquiao fans, are interested in seeing. Pacquiao already proved that he’s better than Cotto when he stopped him in the 12th round last year. Arum would likely temporarily forget about the Cotto-Pacquiao rematch long enough to squeeze Mayweather in Pacquiao’s opening fight slot. King could really help matters if he were able to get Mayweather to bend on certain negotiating points with Pacquiao, such as the random blood testing.

If/when PBF and MP fights, Pacnuts has a ready-made excuse ‘when’ Pac loses. They will say PBF is bigger. Pac may not even have to win the fight to get the nod of the public — all he need is to put up a gallant stand.
Now, if Floyd loses, the impact will be astronomical. Imagine losing to a smaller guy. People will never even factor in the disadvantages of draining down to catch-weight. And there is no way Pac will not ask for catch-weight, because he never fights fair — Remember he asked grandpa Dela Hoya to drain to near death? Okay, okay, so people overestimated Oscar, and ODLH also agreed. That doesn’t change the fact that Oscar has not fought in weight that low in a decade. And to demand that much is almost criminal.
Remember he asked Cotto to stay lower than the welterweight max? And yet Cotto’s crown was put on the line. Sad. Pac has been taking unfair advantage just because he can dictate. Not very sportsmanlike.
If you look at all of Pac’s victory, nothing is really impressive. Barrera was old. Morales can’t make the weight anymore, he looked like a corpse when he entered the ring. Marquez was robbed, twice! Then Pac fought the weakest paper champ in David Diaz, the punching bag wearing a pair of gloves. LOL.
Pac has not beaten any up-and-coming young boxer. He has not unified a single weight class belt. He cherry-picks opponent who has been beaten and softened by others before him.
Pac is just a B-class fighter who happened to be too flawed and defenseless resulting in being entertaining. Because, you know, people want to see carnage. Have you seen Pac without bruises and welts on his face even in victory? Nope. Pac is a well-marketed, overhyped, overrated, lucky dude. LOL.

Why would Pacman except the lower percentage 50/50 seems very much fair to me!! Firtly the reason why Fruadie`s PPv numbers are so high is because he American! American`s like British dont take easy to foreigners!! Globally Pacmen has a bigger fan base then Fraudie and appeal to more to the international community!

i think don king is needed to be on mayweathers side to talk to arum and that other guy who doesnt get a long with mayweather and his camp. you see arum created this random deadline for floyd to accept negotiations. knowing that floyd wasnt around, so if floyd was on vaca obviously plans cant be made until he came back. so arum went for it to make it seem floyd dont want the fight. and he puts someone in the middle to help talks who doesnt even talk to floyd and his promotion team. so don king who does talk to floyd and to fraud arum is who would be good to have to help make the fight happen. hopefully pacquiao can take the drug test and prove to me as a fan that your clean.

ehhhh, I am a huge Pacquiao fight, and I don’t even want to see a rematch between Pacquiao and Cotto. The first fight was too one-sided to even get excited about it. I have lost some interest already in Pacquiao-Mayweather only because right now I am not sure if that fight will ever be made….
