Dolphil Promotions sign Paddy and McDonagh

Dolphil Promotions are proud to announce the double signing of highly rated brothers Paddy (3-0) and JJ (2-1) McDonagh. With Ireland’s largest stable of boxers Dolphil Promotions fought off competition from other promoters to land the promising pair.

Speaking at the official signing Daniel Halpin was upbeat about the signings. “Our stable has grown from strength to strength, and these two fighters will certainly bring another dimension. They are very gifted lads and we are happy to welcome them onboard. We see them both (Paddy & JJ) as future Irish Champions and see this as a very positive acquisition for Dolphil Promotions. We are delighted with the deal and believe they will play a large part in the resurgence boxing is currently undergoing in Ireland”

With Anthony Fitzgerald having successfully defended his Irish Title against Robbie Long, Willie Casey going for a European Title and John Waldron as Light-Heavyweight Champion, the McDonagh brothers will certainly be amongst the best in the country and get all the sparring they could want. And with the super-middleweight and middleweight divisions overflowing with talent the McDonaghs along with Darren Cruise are sure to create some mouth watering bouts with Irish opponents on future shows.

Head Coach Phil Sutcliffe sees the potential in the brothers and is more then happy to welcome them to the stable. “With Paddy and JJ we have two future Irish Champions, that’s a given. After that who knows, maybe World Champions. If it were to come down to potential I would say hands down yes- we have two World Champions here. At only 19 Paddy is frighteningly good, JJ was caught by a lucky shot on our last show but we’ll see how he bounces back from that, he’s also a very gifted boy and I’m looking forward to helping them continue in their development.”

Paddy McDonagh, who in only his third professional outing took on and beat the experienced Ciaran Healy over six rounds, bringing his record to a perfect 3-0. One would be forgiven for mistaking Paddy for a seasoned pro but at just 19 years old he remains Ireland’s youngest professional boxer and one of the countries brightest prospects.

Speaking at the official signing Paddy McDonagh was in buoyant form, “I’ve signed with Dolphil Promotions because I know where I need to be and I believe they are the team that will get me there. I hope to repay their confidence in me by winning titles, that’s what I’m in this game for and I don’t plan on hanging around either.”

With Dolphil Promotions’ expansion plan firmly in motion, boxing fans in Ireland can certainly look forward to some excellent fights on Dolphil shows. This double-signing brings a new youthful dimension to the Dolphil stable and that will be reflected in future shows. With Irelands only female pro Christina McMahon, Irish Super-Middleweight Champion Anthony Fitzgerald, Irish Light Heavyweight Champion John Waldron, European challenger Willie Casey along with Finbarr Eade, Gavin Prunty, Darren Cruise and now the the McDonagh brothers the future certainly looks bright for Dolphil Promotions.
