Cleverly motivated by Burns win

Nathan Cleverly says the Celtic nations will have cause for double celebration next Saturday.

Scotland is already buzzing after Ricky Burns lifted the WBO World Super-Featherweight title against Roman Martinez in Glasgow.

And Cleverly has vowed to continue the Celtic revival by destroying Karo Murat in Birmingham.

The fight is an eliminator for the WBO World Light-Heavyweight title, and Cleverly says he has been inspired by Burns’ performance against Martinez.

“Ricky’s win was a great boost for British boxing, and I’d like to congratulate him,” said proud Welshman Cleverly.

“I fight half as well against Murat I’ll be very happy.

“Boxing in Wales, Scotland and Ireland has always been strong, and it is definitely on the up at the moment.

“I’m going to follow up Burns’ win with another barnstorming victory.

“It was good to see Scotland celebrating at the weekend, and Wales will be partying too after I take a step closer to the world title.

“Murat is definitely in for a shock when we meet, and I can’t see how he is going to last the distance with me.”

Cleverly’s fight against Murat forms part of Frank Warren’s huge Magnificent Seven show at the LG Arena, live on Sky Box Office.

Tickets for the Magnificent Seven are priced at £40, £50, £80, £150 and £200 and are available from:
