A Bad Night for Goode!
Boxers Phil Gill and Eder Kurti both maintained their unbeaten records on the 11th of September Goodwin Promotions bill at the York Hall. Gill who was able to keep up a relentless pace throughout the fight had his opponent, Damien Turner, on the ropes for long periods of the fight landing some hard body shots. The fight looked like it could have been stopped as Turner hit the deck, however to his credit he was able to beat the count and see his way through to the final bell.
Goode who was outboxed early on failed to beat the count after being dropped by a short hook to the body in only the third round. As soon as Goode hit the canvas it was obvious that the wind had been knocked out of him and that he wasn’t going to get up. London based promoter Mickey Helliet who manages both Gill and Kurti was delighted with the results. “Both guys did well tonight, they showed heart and technical ability and are both improving nicely, I’m sure they will both be fighting for titles before too long.”
This comes at the start of a busy season for Helliet who has thirteen boxers fighting in Southampton on the 25th, four of whom will be making their professional debuts.
